Arrival
The school opens each morning at 7:30 am.If your child is here between 7:30 and 7:45and is not eating breaking, he/she will wait
in the playroom.
At 7:45 the children may come to theclassroom. The morning song Im So Glad
will play over the intercom at 7:57 as areminder to get to class by 8:00. If a child notin their seat, ready to work, he/she is tardy
after the song ends.

Dismissal Dismissal begins at 2:45.
All students should be picked up no later than 3:00
unless they are attending an after school activity.
Please do not check out between 2:30 - 2:45. If there is a change in your childs dismissal plan or you
must check out early, please send a note or call theoffice.

Parking
For safety reasons, parents are asked not to park in thehalf-circle drive during morning drop-off and afternoonpick-up.
Spaces are purchased and reserved for Campus
School faculty.
Parking passes may be purchased from the U of MParking Services for $25.00 per year. (general parkingareas only)
Metered spots are available for visitors during theschool day.

Uniforms
All students should wear the appropriate schooluniform each day.
Shorts, skirts, leggings, dresses, jumpers, and skorts mustbe knee length. Colors for bottoms are navy, khaki, orblack.
Shirts must have a collar and sleeves. Turtle necks areacceptable. Shirt colors are white, navy, gray, or U ofM blue.
Sweaters or light jackets worn in the building must benavy, white, gray, or U of M blue.
All shoes must have a strap across the back. No heelshigher than an inch and a half.
Students who are out of uniform will receive adisciplinary notice.

Attendance Policy
Please read the complete attendance policy on thewebsite or pick up a handout.
As a school of choicesatisfactory attendance is arequirement.
Please submit a parent or doctors note within threedays of any absence; otherwise, they will beunexcused.
15 combined absences, early dismissals, and/ortardies will result in denial of admission for theupcoming school year.

Medicine
ALL medicine, over the counter and prescribed, musthave written authorization from a doctor.
You can come in to the school and administermedicine to your child without an authorization form.
Please do not send your child with ANY medication.This includes cough drops and Tums

Breakfast and Lunch
Lunch costs - cash only$2.00 daily $9.50 per week (Mondays) $38.00 per month
50 milk treats range from 25 - 60Lunches that are unused during one week/month will roll over. You
may now add to your childs account online athttps://www.mypaymentsplus.com/default.aspx.
Breakfastis served daily from 7:30 to 7:45 and is free to all CampusSchool children. Second graders are to eat in the Art room.Unfortunately, there is not enough room for parents to eat breakfastwith their child.
If you want to bring something special for your childs birthday, wewill have the treat during lunch. If invitations are distributed forparties please send enough for everyone.
You are also welcome to come eat lunch with your child any dayduring our lunch period.

Weekly Spelling Tests
There will be two list each weeka basic list on gradelevel words and a challenge list.
Each Monday I will give a pretest to determine whichlist your child will work at home. Your child willcomplete homefun only on his/her assigned list.
On the back of the spelling tests I will give students adictation sentence to write that use high frequency
and spelling words as well.

Standards Based Grading
Our progress reports are aligned with TN State and Core CurriculumStandards. The end goal for your child is to meet grade levelexpectations.
Assessments will be measured using the following grading scale:

Common Core Standards
During the 2012-2013 school year Campus School willbegin the transition from the Tennessee standards to theCommon Core Standards in Language Arts and Math.
The Common Core State Standards Initiative is a state-led effort coordinated by the National GovernorsAssociation Center for Best Practices (NGA Center) andthe Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO).
These standards define the knowledge and skills studentsshould have within their K-12 education careers.
Common Core Standards have been adopted by 45states and 3 territories.

Discipline Consequences

If a child has consistent misbehavior in class, the following stepswill be taken:
1st infraction - Parent communication and loss of privileges andrewards
2nd infraction - Step 1 Warning Letter3rd infraction - Step 2 Warning Letter4th infraction - Office Referral
If a child has 3 office referrals in a quarter the conduct grade may belowered on the report card.
These incidents are non-negotiable reasons for office referrals:disrespect to a teacher, refusal to follow directions, cursing, fighting,bullying, threatening, theft/vandalism, and harassment.

Field Trip Requirements
Parents and guardians are drivers for our fieldtrips unless a school bus is rented.
In order for you or a family member to drivethey must
Complete an MCS background check
Have a valid drivers license and proof of insurance on file
We must comply with state laws regardingbooster seats. (less than 49 tall)
No child may sit in the passenger seat unless
riding with a parent. We love siblings, but they are not allowed to
go on field trips with us.

Conferences
I will schedule a conference with every parent at theend of the first nine weeks of school. All parents arerequired to attend the first quarter conferences.
I am not available to meet with parents in the morningor during dismissal.
Active communication is encouraged, please contactme via e-mail or note to make an appointment for a
conference.
Conferences are typically held during support time, but Iam available before and after school as well.
