If you want to build a ship, don't drum up
people together to collect wood and don't assign
them tasks and work, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity
of the sea.-- Antoine de Saint-Exupery
KPGT Board is always looking for committed volunteers (Programs person wanted!)
Liaisons provide a communication link Liaisons look for opportunities to
support advanced academics on your campus
Liaisons often support social activities for Gifted students and their families
Liaisons are your resident GT resource Often serve on Parent Advisory

So…who does all this great stuff?
#1 Rule to remember…
you can’t be all things to all people!
So what do
you want to
be when you
grow up?
The third step……ask, ask, ask
• meet with the district contact about their needs• meet with parents – take the pulse of your community (utilize your liaisons!)• meet with the teachers – what are their needs• meet with your leadership team - pick a focus
The fourth step…….communication, communication,
communication
• Make sure to represent yourself professionally• Tag along on a district event• Determine the best method via your school district
•Teacher emails, email blasts from schools, etc.
• Email vs. a paper trail• Collect email addresses directly and maintain a data base!• Facebook is a fast link• Websites• Press Releases to all community avenues
Your source for…•Articles of interest• Community Events of Interest to GT families (museums, arts, television, web sites and resources• KISD Events & News• KPGT Events, News and Issues•Volunteer opportunities•Updates

the world to live more amply, with greater vision, with a finer spirit of hope and achievement. You are here to enrich the world, and to impoverish yourself if
