Tipping Points...• Charlotte, one of two remaining A-10 unbeatens, wraps up an early season two-game homestand by play-ing host to the Big 12’s Kansas State Wildcats at 7 p.m. Saturday as part of Military Appreciation Night.• Senior Jennifer Hailey became the 20th member of the school’s 1,000-point club by hitting the milestone exactly with 20 points in last Saturday’s 79-60 triumph over FGCU. She dropped in a pair of free throws with 1:40 left to reach the plateau.• Charlotte is facing its third first-time opponent in the opening four games when it welcomes Kansas State to town. Niner head football coach Brad Lambert will serve as the honorary coach for tonight’s contest. He is a 1987 Kansas State graduate, where he earned All-Big Eight honors as a defensive back.• The 49ers are 3-0 to start the year in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 1993-94 and 1994-95. New coaching staff additionaJoining the Charlotte coaching staff this season is Joanne Aluka-White, who spent the previous six seasons at FIU in the Sun Belt.aAluka-White competed in the 2004 Summer Olympics with Nigeria, leading the squad to the first victory by an African nation in the Games.aShe is a 2001 graduate of Middle Tennessee, where she earned Ohio Valley Freshman of the Year honors (prior to the school joining the Sun Belt) and finished with over 1,000 career points.aShe also played professionally, both domesti-cally and overseas. A rare successful startaThe 49ers began the 2012-13 campaign with back-to-back wins, marking the second-straight season in which the feat has been accomplished under head coach Cara Consuegra.aCharlotte led off a season with consecutive vic-tories in its first two games for the first time since 1993-94 and 1994-95. aThose two seasons marked the end of a three-year stretch where the Niners started 2-0 each time, also including the 1992-93 and 1993-94 campaigns.aAt no other time in its 38-year history, other than the three-year streak under Ed Baldwin and the current run, had Charlotte recorded a 2-0 mark to begin consecutive seaons.

Dowe leaps over FrogsaSenior Amanda Dowe registered one of the best performances of her career in the road open-er at TCU Nov. 14.aShe tallied a career-best 21 points on 9-of-15 from the floor, while grabbing 16 rebounds for her ninth career double-double.aDowe dominated the offensive glass, hauling in 10 of her 16 boards at that end, and added three blocks and three assists in 29 minutes against the Big 12 opponent.

Century club membersaSeniors Jai Forney and Jennifer Hailey played in their 100th career game when the 49ers faced TCU Nov. 14.aThe pair is the active leader for Charlotte with classmate Amanda Dowe next on the list at 91 starts.aThrough their 100th career game, Hailey had earned 68 starts and Forney garnered 49, again being the two active leaders for the Niners.

“Overall, we’re really excited about the class that we have been able to sign and bring into Charlotte,” Consuegra said. “Each one of these players bring a specific skill set that we need and fit in perfectly with our system. “They are all highly-recruited players that could have gone to a lot of different places but they wanted to come to Charlotte to help us com-pete and continue to compete at the high level at which we have the last several years. I couldn’t be more excited about this group.”


Starting the season off with three winsaFor only the second time in school history, the Niners have begun a season with three-straight victories in back-to-back years.aThe first instance in which Charlotte accom-plished the feat was in 1993-94 and 1994-95.aThe 49ers began last year, head coach Cara Con-suegra’s first season at the helm of the program, with a 5-0 mark.

Getting to 40 in the first 20aCharlotte has tallied at least 40 points in the first half of each of its three contests this season, aver-aging 41.7 points in the frame.aThe Niners tallied 45 points during the initial period in both the season opener against North Carolina Central Nov. 10 and in the road opener at TCU Nov. 14.

Eight is greataJunior Ny Hammonds has made the most of her point guard duties thus far in 2012-13.aShe is not only one of four 49ers with a dou-ble-figure scoring average but she is the leading distributor of assists with 24.aHammonds has handed out eight assists in each of the three games played thus far to double the overall total of her next closest teammate.aShe also has been a consistent threat with her shooting, knocking down a team-best 63.2 per-cent (12-of-19) on field goals, including a team-high 60.0 percent (3-of-5) in 3-point territory.

The cylinder is over half fullaCharlotte continues to torch the nets this sea-son, converting over 50.0 percent of its field goal attempts in each of the first three games.aEntering the Kansas State contest, the 49ers have connected on 96-of-183 as a team for a 52.5 field goal percentage.aThe Niners knocked down a season-best 57.4 percent from the floor on 27-of-47 attempts against FGCU Nov. 17.
