He retired as a music teacher from Pine View School. He has appeared as the guest conductor of the Florida West Coast Symphony, the Florida Chamber Orchestra and the International Festival Orchestra of Oxford, England, among others. At the summer music camp he teaches violin and viola. The day I visited the camp, he was instructing Eric Murrell, 12, a student at Laurel Nokomis School. Murrell said he has played the viola about a year and also is interested in guitar. Beth Morrison, who plays flute and piccolo in the symphony, led a group of campers ages 8-11 in some musical games with the assistance of two student helpers. In additional to music lessons, choral practice, games and jazz jam ses- sions, students also learn about various orchestral instruments from the people who play them.
