DEAN’S Message

The Strategic Vision outlined in this document embraces the Faculty of Dentistry’s Vision, Mission, Guiding Principles and Goals.

This design is the result of broad consultation with our various stakeholders and incorporation of a human system approach that facilitates positive change called Appreciative Inquiry. By focusing on “Dalhousie University, Faculty of Dentistry at Its Best,” this process ensures that our strategic directions explore what works well in the Faculty of Dentistry, in order to build on our strengths and embrace future challenges and opportunities.

I believe the strategic initiatives in this document provide the basis for current and future decision-making. These include:

faculty, staff, student recruitment and retention

succession planning

enhancing educational programs in dentistry, dental hygiene and graduate programs

enhancing our research initiatives

budget planning (short term and long term)

Join us – faculty, staff, patients, students, alumni – in creating our exciting future. By working together, we realize our mission to provide quality oral health care to all our communities through excellence in education, research and service.
