2018 Alexander W. Livingston House Scholarship

Application Deadline: March 14th, 2018

The Livingston House has created this scholarship for the purpose of promoting the study of history, education, agriculture on the university level.

The scholarship shall be awarded to a Reynoldsburg High School senior or to a senior who resides in the City of Reynoldsburg, who will be studying history, education, or agriculture at an accredited college or university, and who meets the established scholarship criteria.

Children or grandchildren of members of the LHS Board of Directors are not eligible. Relatives of the general membership of the Society are eligible provided they meet the other requirements.

CRITERIA:

The applicant must1. Be a student in the Reynoldsburg City School District or a resident of the City of

Reynoldsburg for at least 4 years2. Be a graduating senior in the current school year3. Be accepted at a college or university with intent to study history or education, or

agriculture4. Have a minimum 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale)5. Complete an application for this scholarship.

The scholarship application must consist of:1. A cover sheet indicating the:

a. Applicant’s name; address; telephone numberb. Parent or guardian’s name and telephone number;c. School counselor’s name and telephone number

2. Two (2) letters of recommendation from teachers, clergy, coaches or outside activity leaders who can attest to the applicant’s qualifications for this scholarship.

3. A list and description of the applicant’s community service activities, outreach projects, and extra-curricular school activities during the previous three (3) years prior to graduation.

4. An essay (minimum 300 words to maximum 500 words) of the candidate’s qualifications for this scholarship. The qualification statement should include a stated interest in history, historical places that the candidate has visited, career plans, and future goals. Essays must be type-written, one-sided, double-spaced, and stapled.
