Gordon B. Lankton came to Clinton Massachusetts in the 1960s to work in the plastics industry at a small company in Clinton which later grew into NYPRO, a leading inter-national plastic molding company with world wide sales in excess of $1billion. He is a Cornell engineering graduate.

His international company is headquartered in Clinton, where NYPRO occupies a series of fine 19th mill buildings that were built for the Bigelow Carpet Manufacturing Co. Mr. Lankton retired as CEO of NYPRO in 2005 becom-ing the chairman of the Company which was sold to its employees through an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) the largest IPO buy-out in the USA at that time.

Mr. Lankton is the recipient of numerous plastics industry awards and honors, but he is proudest of his achievement in establishing the largest museum of Russian icons out-side of the Russian Federation.

He founded The Museum of Russian Icons in 2006 to showcase his incomparable collection of over 300 Russian icons from the 15th century to the present, described by leading experts in Russia as the best collection of Russian icons outside of the Russian Federation. His collection is unique in that it ranges from early Byzantine style icons to examples of contemporary icon art.

The Museum occupies a completely renovated mid 19th

century brick building located on the historic Central Park in Clinton, that was once the Town’s library and post office. He engaged David Durrant of Harvard to design a state of the art museum facility that included leading-edge photo voltaic system to supplement the Museum’s power requirements and “green” technology and materials throughout the project.

Since opening its doors to the public in October 2007 the Museum of Russian Icons has welcomed over 15,000 visi-tors. The Museum has a full range of educational programs including lectures, concerts and family activities and the Museum actively participates in the life of the Town of Clinton and the region. The Museum has held exhibitions from it’s collection in NYC, Washington DC, Minneapolis, and locally in Worcester. The Museum is launching a multi site travelling exhibition with Smith and Kramer Inc. that will include over 10 important museums across the coun-try from 2010.

In 2008 Mr. Lankton organized the international exhibi-tion Two Museums/One Culture, bringing an important collection of historical icons to American audiences for the first time from the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow. He is interested in developing cultural ties between the USA and the Russian Federation to foster understanding and collaboration between these two great nations.

Budd Mishkin is the host and reporter for NY1’s weekly profile se-ries, “One On 1 with Budd Mishkin,” which profiles influential New Yorkers who have significant personal and professional ties to the city. Among those profiled since the series started in 2003 are musi-cians Wynton Marsalis, Wyclef Jean and Judy Collins; writers Rob-ert Caro, Gay Talese and Pete Hamill; TV chefs Rachel Ray, Bobby Flay and Anthony Bourdain; broadcaster Mike Wallace; educator Geoffrey Canada; environmental activist Majora Carter; and Donald Trump, Ed Koch, Mario Cuomo.

Budd started with the news channel in 1992 and is one of NY1’s original employees. He has served as a sports anchor/reporter for NY1’s nightly program “Sports on 1, The Last Word,” covering some of the biggest events in recent New York sports history: the Rangers Stanley Cup victory, the Yankees World Series run, the 2000 Sub-way Series and the Knicks playoff series against the Chicago Bulls, the Indiana Pacers and the Miami Heat.

As an anchor for the show, Budd has interviewed some of the greats of the New York sports world and beyond: Walt Frazier, Bill Brad-ley, Rod Gilbert, Boris Becker, Jim Palmer and Brooks Robinson, to name a few. Perhaps his most enjoyable in-studio interview was horse owner and actor Jack Klugman, the beloved Oscar Madison of “Odd Couple” fame.

Since NY1’s inception, Budd has contributed feature stories outside the world of sports on subjects ranging from the one-year commem-oration of September 11th to profiles of Steve Van Zandt and Clar-ence Clemons of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band. His anchoring work was cited in an Emmy awarded to NY1 in 1999 for a half-hour special on the death of Joe Dimaggio.

Away from NY1, Budd has turned a hobby into a slowly develop-ing second career: Russian folk singer. And the one line he’s used to start all of these shows? “I know what you are thinking,” he says. “Just another TV sports guy who sings Russian folk songs.”
