Definition for Conflict
The careful approach to violence is reflected in the use of language. Some would say this is inspired as well by a dominant Confucian culture that is inclined to stress harmony rather than dissent.
As a result, much of the language used at international levels to describe violent conflict is rarely used in China. The word “conflict” itself and related terms like “conflict prevention” or “conflict management” are not part of the common vocabulary in this regard.
Instead, Chinese discourse will emphasize words like “stability”, “healthy social relations”, or “the promotion of a harmonious society”.
