Stella McCartney was born on the 13 of September 1971 in Lambeth, London, England. Her nationality is British and she attended Central State Martins. Her occupation is a fashion designer and she is married to a British publisher Alasdair Willis on the 30 august 2003 in a private catholic chapel at Mount Stuarts House. It is the home of Marquess of Bute on the isle of Bute; Scotland. Her wedding dress

was a more modern version of her mothers wedding dress from march 1969. She designed her dress with well known designer and boss at Gucci Tom Ford. Her first born child was son Miller Alasdhair James Willis, her second eldest daughter Bailey Linda Olwyn Willis in December 2006,her third born was Beckett Robert Lee Willis on the 8 of January 2008 and her fourth born who is the youngest of the four is Dilys Stella Willis ,born November 2010.

Stella and her husband Alasdhair are also members of the royal British legion Paddington brand. Her elder sister Mary and younger brother James are her biological siblings, but Stella also have a much younger half sister Beatrice Milly McCartney who was born on the 28 October 2003,to her fathers second wife Heather Millis.

She is the daughter of Sir Paul McCartney a member of the famous Beatles band and late mother Linda McCatrney, an animal rights activist and photographer. She is named after her great grandmother. as a little girl she travelled the world with her parents and their pop group called Wings. Herself along with her siblings. She has two sisters Heather and Mary and a younger brother James. The name of the pop group Wings was inspired by Stella’s difficult birth as she was born through an emergency caesarean section Wings toured from 1971 to 1980.

Although her parents were famous, they still wanted Stella and her siblings to live ordinary lives and therefore enrolled them in State schools in East Sussex, one of them being Bexhill College. She was bullied in school and there after her herself became one. She started to have an interest for fashion at the tender age of 13 and designed and made her first jacket. Three years later she interned for Christian Lacroix. She had the privilege to work on his first fashion design collection. She studied her foundation course at Ravensbourne College of design thereafter she studied fashion design at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. She celebrated her graduation in the early 1990’s, her graduation collection in 1995 was modelled by her friends and supermodels such as Naomi Campbell, Yasmin Le Bon and Kate Moss. Her fashion show most certainly had a big impact on the industry, so much that it appeared on the front page and her entire collection was sold to Tokio a London based boutique. Her designs were licensed to Browns, Joseph Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus.

In March 1997 Stella got appointed by the creative director pf Paris Fashion House Chloe Karl Lagerfeld a well known designer was not impressed by the choice of choosing Stella McCartney’s design have had good commercial and critical success. She was accompanied to Chloe by her assistant and her friend Phoebe Philo who later replaced her as a design director. In 1998 Stella designed her sister Mary’s

wedding dress. Stella received the VH1 Vogue Designer of the year awards in the year 2000. Her father Paul McCartney presented the award to his daughter and she dedicated the award to her late mother Linda McCartney. She designed Madonna’s wedding dress in 2000, when Madonna married Guy Ritchie.

In Vogue Magazine it was written that her first collection for the fashion house Chloe

shown in Paris in October 1997 erased any bad critics and doubts about Stella as a talented fashion designer. Stella believes that even if she was not raised in a famous family, she says that she would have still ended up being a well known fashion designer. In 2001 Stella decided on resigning from the fashion house of Chloe and taking on a new venture with Gucci, the line has four stores and they are situated in New York City and opened in 2003, Mayfair, London which opened in April 2004, Los Angeles which opened on her birthday in September 2005 and included an expansion into the perfume market and a store in Hong Kong in 2008.

Stella had many collaborations for example in 2004 she designed clothes for Madonna’s Re-invention Tour, Annie Lennox Summer Tour and Gwenyth Palthrow and Jude Law’s costumes for the film Sky Captain and the world of tomorrow. Not only after that had she also decided to collaborate and launch a collection with Adidas. This relationship ended up in a successful long term relationship in September 2004. The collection that she designed for Adidas is a sports performance collection and the range offers swimwear, gyming, running, tennis and winter sports gear as well as bags. The swimwear is amazing to top it off she adds a special reflector keychain to her clothes.

The signature keychain in early 2006 was in a shape of a pink heart and as the months progressed so did the keychain, the keychain then evolved into a grey wolf’s head later in the year.

Stella is a real go getter because in 2005 a new range of clothes and accessories for a company called H and M to advertise her brand even more to the public and this created more affordable options for her fans and clients. This

range was then released in November and got sold out almost immediately on the day of the launch. But because of the similarities between her expensive range and the H and M range. On the 12 of March 2007, Stella then decided to have a limited edition. A 42 piece range got released to only a hundred target stores exclusively in Australia. This ranges prices ranged from $30 for a silk scarf to $200 for a taffeta trench coat. This range resulted in hysteria amongst the women who tried to get a piece of what Stella McCartney’s collection had to offer.

Stella was fast at setting trends, because in January 2007,it was announced that Stella would be adding another branch to her branded name called Gym Yoga and this linked up to her sports range for Adidas. The 2007 spring and summer collection of Gym Yoga was inspired by ballet and dance uniforms. Her contract which she signed with Adidas got extended until 2010.

In 2007 Stella then launched her skincare line called Care. This skincare range is 100% organic which includes seven skincare products. It includes a cleansing milk made with lemon balm and apricot and green tea and linden blossom floral water. In November 2007, Stella designed a silver necklace which featured a single leg, which was an apparent attraction on her father’s estranged wife Heather Millis.

In January 2008 Stella’s collaboration with lingerie label Bendon was scheduled to be released to the department stores, speciality stores and Stella McCartney stores. She was also scheduled to release a new line of hand bags for LeSportSac in early 2008.this hand bag collection has 30 to 40 different styles and the prices range from $200 to $500.her hand bag range consists of travel bags, luggage bag and bags for mothers with babies and toddlers. The line is sold at high end retail stores.

Since she started her own label, Stella also collaborated on a project with many artists such as Gary Hume , R. Crumb, Jeff Koons, David Remfry and Ed Ruscha. In 2010 Stella McCartney announced that she would be collaborating with Disney to create an Alice in Wonderland inspired jewellery collection. After designing a jewellery collection, she then did a Stella McCartney kids range, which was launched on the 3 of November 2010.

Stella has many projects in the pipe line such as designing the new Adidas sportswear collection for the British Olympic and Paralympics teams for the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympics games.

Stella, who is a lacto-ovo-vegetarian just like her mother, does not use any fur or leather in her designs and she supports the PETA foundation. Some of McCartney’s designs have writing on that elaborates on her ‘no animal’ policy. But Stella does use wool, silk and other fabrics which get derived from animals for her designs.

Stella is not in the fashion industry designing cutting edge styles, but she has also businesses in the perfume department. She has four different scents on the market. The perfumes are called, Stella Sheer which costs $62, Stella which costs $20 to $92, Stellanude which costs $ 85 and Stella Eau de perfume roll and that costs $20. This girl does not sit with her hands tied behind her back because she has so many things that she accomplished by herself like having her own accessory collection, clothing collections, shoe collections and even sunglasses range.

She is a huge success story and many love her fashion trends and she reeks of independence and that’s what I love most of her, because like she stated… she would have still become a successful fashion designer even without the luck of her famous maiden surname McCartney.
