CENTRAL LABORATORY MANAGEMENT
UNIT
1ST Quarter Report
Achievements
A centralized store for consumables has been created to consolidate all the faculties’
stock and the same time maintain individual faculties inventory. This provides better
stock management and redundant purchase of consumables can be reduced.
Two new laboratories has been established which is the Advanced Cell Culture &
Experimental Cytology Lab and Cancer Research Lab. These two labs are fully funded by
the research grants and increase the research activities in the university.
75% of Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) audit recommendations have been
carried out. The remaining is more on safety aspects which is concurrent with CHRA
recommendations.
On safety matters, the CHRA recommendations is being implemented and a new
location of chemical/biological waste disposal area has been identified which is not
located in the laboratories itself.
A common email ID is created to manage request for quotations and also serves a point
of inventory list sharing among CLMU staffs and respected faculty members.
Information can be retrieved anytime anywhere.
Laboratory Maintenance Unit (LMU) has been established which looks into minor repair
of equipment. LMU reduces the cost of sending out equipment to vendors.

session.
