Area Sabah Bulletin2012 - 1st Edition

2012 Area Sabah theme is “One Dream, One Team” or in short Dream Team. The theme focuses on unity and branding, complementing the JCIM theme of Involvement, Understanding and Passion. Area Sabah will also focus on ‘fun through active involvement’, as being on a voluntary organization, it is important that we are happy with what we are doing and appreciate every contribution.

Apart from achieving all the area KPI set by JCIM, we are also looking on achieving both specific missions in line with our area team focus:- • Unity: More inter-Loms projects, be it Inter-LOMs training or Inter-LOMs gathering• Branding: Major publicity events in promoting JCI to the public

The area team line-up from 2012 includes a new post which is the Area JCI Junior/Youth Director to achieve the target of the JCI Junior/Youth formation.

Area Sabah team also plans to be actively involved in promoting the Malaysian-Sabah Nite at the Annual National Convention, ASPAC and World Congress. Since it has been endorsed that the ASPAC bidding chapter is from Sabah, we will be working together with the bidding Chapter of JCI Penampang and JCIM in making the Malaysian Night a night to remember.

Area Sabah team also aims to maintaining its good rapport with the Ministry of Youth and Sports Sabah, Sabah Youth Council (Majlis Belia Sabah) and other Ministries to develop youth in Sabah in creating positive change.

And finally, recognition must be in place to acknowledge hard work and dedication, so at the upcoming Area Convention, the following awards will be presented to the deserving members and Chapters:-

Received”Active & Action” will be our theme for this year which simply means to contribute and learn through JCI. Though we’re still a new chapter, it will not stop us to soar higher. By walking together with other LOMs and Area Team Sabah, it will help us to achieve greater heights.

2012 Area Sabah Convention Each year area convention is held in a different location in Sabah, hosted and organized by a local chapter. Members from all over Sabah attend the convention to participate in a variety of quality workshops and to take part in the General Assembly to conduct the business of the organisation. As well, area convention offers a great opportunity for networking, fellowship and the sharing of ideas, projects and experiences. The JCI Malaysia Area Sabah 2012 area convention will be held June 22-24 in Lahad Datu and will be hosted by JCI Lahad Datu with the theme “Expectation, Execution, Excellent”. Lahad Datu is located in the Tawau division, occupying the peninsula on the north side of Darvel Bay. Lahad Datu is surrounded by stretches of cocoa and oil palm plantations. Apart from that, it is also an important timber exporting port. A haven for naturalists, Lahad Datu is the gateway to Danum Valley Conservation Area, Tabin Wildlife Reserve, and Madai Caves. Lahad Datu is also the base for the Borneo Child Aid Society (locally Humana Child Aid Society Sabah) which provides education for more than 5, 000 children of plantation workers as well as others who are without access to basic education. (Source: STB) The main venue for this year convention will be held at MY INN Hotel. It is strategically located at Bandar Sri Perdana Centre, 10 minutes drives to Lahad Datu Airport and town Centre. The hotel offers 96 business and leisure accommodation with well-equipped and elegantly decorated rooms and suites designed for both local and international travellers, as well as banqueting, catering corporate function, dinner and seminar conference.
