Theme 4 Unit Assessment : This week the students will be taking the Theme 4 Unit Assessment which will focus on the Phonics, Word Study, and comprehension skills we have been learning throughout the theme. Science : Use materials to design a solution to a human problem by mimicking how plants and/or animals use their external parts to help them survive, grow, and meet their needs. Reminders: Homework goes home on Monday and is due on Friday unless you need the weekend to complete it. Spelling, High Frequency Word, and Vocabulary Assessments are at the end of each week. 1. Circle this week’s sight words in the story.(animal, kind, place)

2. Underline words with long o, spelled oa. (coat, float, foal, foam, goat, Joan, oak, oats, road, soaks, soap, toad)

Joan sees a toad in the road. Joan puts the toad on an oak stump, so it will be in a safe place. Joan sees a thin foal. The foal needs to eat. She feeds it oats and hay. Kind Joan sees a goat. The animal has mud in its coat. Joan soaks the goat in soap foam! The foam cleans the goat’s coat. Joan sees a pig in a boat. A boat is no place for a pig. Pigs do not like to float. Joan takes the pig out of the boat. The animal runs down the road. Joan is very kind to animals.
