Girl Scout camps are open to every girl in grades K-12. Girl Scouting values inclusiveness and does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, national origin, or physical or developmental disability. Girls attending Girl Scout summer camp must register as members of Girl Scouts of the USA. A Children’s Camp in New York State brochure listing NYS standards for camp operations will be available in all Camp Information Packets.

Camp Seven Hills is located in Holland, NY, and encompasses approximately 620 acres of woodland paths, sunny meadows, ponds, streams, and hills. The camp facilities includes a lake, pool, central dining hall, shower houses, cabin and platform tent units, a vast sports complex, horse stables and riding areas and a high- and low-ropes challenge course. At Camp Seven Hills girls in grades 1-12 will have an opportunity to participate in a variety of activities such as swimming, boating, outdoor skills, arts & crafts, ropes challenge course program, horseback riding, and out-of-camp trips. This is the perfect resident camp setting for your girl(s) to meet and make new friends, learn more about her abilities and share an authentic summer camp experience with others. Many campers return summer after summer for that “special something” they say Camp Seven Hills provides.

Family members, friends, and general visitors can meet the staff and tour the camp during our Seven Hills Open House or when girls are brought to camp on Sunday.

VISITING CAMP

OPEN HOUSE AT SEVEN HILLS GOODYEARMonday, July 1, 2019 ☙ 5 to 8 p.m. Tours of Camp Seven Hills will be ongoing throughout this evening. While at camp, you will get a firsthand look at our top-notch facilities. Spend the evening meeting our qualified staff and observing Camp Seven Hills in its summer operation. Stop by the Tuck Shop for a look at our new summer merchandise. Open House will be on the Goodyear side of camp only: 10150 Olean Road (Rt 16), Holland, NY 14080.

Bus transportation is available to Camp Seven Hills for an additional fee of $50 per girl per week. The schedule is listed by time, place, and bus stop. Please note that any bus stop stated in this brochure may be cancelled due to an insufficient number of boarding passengers. In this instance, the bus fee will be refunded. Bus refunds will not be given for any other reason or circumstance.

The bus schedule and additional transportation information can be found on gswny.org. Please note that the Seven Hills bus schedule consists of one bus stop location for Session 4 only (Sun., July 28 and Fri., Aug. 2, 2019.)

As a first-time camper, you’ll spend four days and three nights enjoying of the very best that resident camp has to offer. Sleep in the one of our cool lodges at camp, while you swim, play games, make crafts, explore the forest, learn to make a fire, cook outside, and sample so many other fun parts of camp life. Don’t forget to bring your best friend along with you!

Dogs, Cats, Horses & Cows… Oh My! with day trip

NEW! Girls, do you love animals and want to learn more about them? During this week you will tour the horse barn, spend time with the horses and speak to the riding director about what it takes to care for these beautiful animals. You will also learn about animal habitats, the plants they eat and how to follow their tracks. You will also take a day trip to Asha’s Sanctuary to go behind-the-scenes with farm animals and learn how we can help them by our food choices. Don’t forget swimming, arts & crafts, and lots of laughter is also included. Girls will earn requirements towards the following Girl Scout badges:

• Daisy – Tula’s Story (Be Courageous and Strong) • Brownie – Pets

Put your problem solving skills to the test as you spend this adventurous week searching for clues and solving riddles to find the treasures hidden throughout camp. Girls will practice the art of letterboxing by learning the basics, making stamps, thinking of clues, and creating a camp letterbox. Challenge your camp friends to see who can find the camp letterbox first. All of the other great aspects of camp are also included in this great creative week. Girls will earn requirements towards the following Girl Scout badges -

If you are a girl who loves horses, this introductory program is for you! Spend the week learning the basic ins and outs of the horse program. You will get your first riding lesson, take a tour of the barn, meet the horses, and try grooming, feeding, mounting, dismounting, and tack care with these friendly, four-legged friends.

Girls will have one introductory riding lesson and one guided horse ride. Girls must wear long pants and boots with 3/4-inch heel.

Gross-Ology Session 1: July 7 -12, 2019

Take the lead and guide your group through the trails of Seven Hills to find the perfect spot for your overnight camping experience. Be that risk-taker who tries new things and explores all that camp has to offer. Girls will earn requirements towards the following Girl Scout badges:

Calling all future CIA and FBI agents to Camp Seven Hills! Turn your unit into your very own Secret Super Sleuth Headquarters as you create secret codes to communicate with your secret agent pals. Put your skills to the test as you crack the code to the Camp Seven Hills Break-Out, then take a trip to the Buffalo Escape Room, where you can challenge your sleuthing skills in real time! Girls will earn requirements towards the following Girl Scout badges:

• Junior – Detective • Cadette – Special Agent

This is your chance to learn some serious outdoor skills and time-honored wilderness techniques like fire and shelter making, finding and purifying water, and identify plants for food, medicine, and utility. What is a solar still? Which way is north? Put your skills to the test. All this and other fun stuff at camp await you. Do you have what it takes to be a Camp Adventure Girl? Successful completion of this program will gain you membership into the Camp Adventure Club.

Come on, be happy, and join us for a week of camping and relaxation. Create your own Japa Mala bead strings used in ancient Japanese meditation, design thankful jars to share with others, learn, and practice the latest yoga poses, and with help from your yoga instructor, make a special Zen Garden. All of the necessary things for you to relax, have fun, and Namaste.

Climb High at Sky High

with day tripSessions 2-3: July 14-26, 2019

Fee: $610 per person

Spend two weeks challenging yourself and mastering the elements of the Seven Hills Ropes Course, once your skills are mastered it’s off to Sky High Adventure

Park in Ellicottville, NY, for more fun and adventure. All of this while still enjoying the splendors of camp life. Girls will earn the Seven Hills ropes course patch along with the activity rider for each ropes course element that they participate on.

NEW! 2 WEEKS!

This program is open to riders at ALL LEVELS – beginner to advanced. The emphasis will be on the basics of English riding and how to apply them to dressage. Lessons also include stable management, basic barn chores, grooming, cleaning the stalls, and feeding the horses. Lessons will be given based on ability and girls will perform a dressage presentation at the end of the camp week. Girls will also learn what a judge would be looking for in order to get the most points and what the different rules are in the sport. Campers will earn the horse patch with rider level(s). Girls participating in the two-week program will remain at camp the entire two weeks.

This equestrian program includes all level of horseback riding. Your lessons will focus on balance, seat equitation, control at a walk and trot (canter for more

advanced riders), and horse management including basic barn chores, grooming, cleaning the stalls, and feeding the horses. At the end of your two weeks have a Mini Horse Show for family and friends and win prizes for showmanship and sportsmanship. Campers will earn the horse patch with rider level(s). Girls participating in the two-week program will remain at camp the entire two weeks.

Learn the ancient art of fire-making. Across the world, cultures have been practicing the art of fire for thousands of years and with that the creations of numerous time-honored techniques including, friction-fire (bow-drill method), the fire piston, flint/magnesium and steel, and more. Learn how to handle matches safely, plus gain a respect and reverence for the flames and heat they provide. Our outdoor professionals will teach all these skills and how to apply them in outdoor cooking with edible plants, and even a few other outdoor skills.

Roller Coaster Mania

Use your imagination! This week is dedicated to being creative! Using a variety of supplies such as K’nex Kits and natural materials, you can create your own mini dream roller coaster. You’ll get the real experience in life-sized fun when you take a trip to Darien Lake for a behind-the-scenes look at how roller coasters work. There will be plenty of time to enjoy the rest of the park and feel the rush of roller coaster mania.

NEW!

Wouldn’t it be cool to work with robots like your favorite ones from the movies? Well now you can. Spend this week learning the ins and outs of underwater robotics. Girls will work with engineering professionals while creating and handling robots underwater! Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind program. Time will also be left for enjoying the splendors of camp.

Spend your time at Seven Hills lazing your days away with friends. Sleep in late, lounge by the pool, or just catch up on one of your favorite books. In the evenings

You have seen it on TV. Now it is your chance to do it at camp! Girls will test their teamwork to overcome and conquer challenges across six “countries” in camp. Road blocks might include climbing, shelter or raft building, archery, canoeing, tent pitching, fire building, outdoor cooking, kayaking, and more. It’s non-stop adventure to the end! Successful completion of this program will gain you membership into the Camp Adventure Club.

You and your fellow warriors will face off and compete in mental and physical challenges. Try your hand at a mud scavenger hunt, or a mud slip and slide, or maybe a mud obstacle course. The possibilities are endless! After a day of hard competition relax with a soothing mud bath or mud facial. All of the other great camp activities such as swimming, boating, outdoor cooking and more are also included.

2 WEEKS!Experience the underwater world through a mask, snorkel, and breathing device. Professional scuba instructors from Dip N’ Dive will take you through

every step necessary for you to obtain your Jr. Open Water Diver or your Open Water Diver scuba certification. Spend a week at camp training in our Seven Hills pool covering the first phase of your certification. Spend your second week completing the second phase: open water dive with overnight conducted at the Windmill Quarry, located in Fort Erie, Canada. When you surface, don’t forget to leave time for all of the other great activities at Seven Hills.

• Participants must meet the basic swim requirements and health requirements set by Dip N’ Dive. If they do not, they will be placed in an alternate program at camp. (Basic swim consists of 200-yard swim, treading water for 10 minutes, and floating for 10 minutes, and swim underwater for 50 feet with one breath.)

• All participants are must attend a scuba orientation on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Buffalo Girl Scout Service Center. This is considered the first class of the program. PROGRAMS FOR GIRLS ENTERING GRADES 7-12 IN FALL 2019This program is open to riders with skills at ALL LEVELS – beginner through advanced. The emphasis throughout the week will be on the rider’s position, how to control your horse, and learning about dressage. Stable management will also be taught including basic barn chores, grooming, cleaning the stalls, and feeding the horses. The girls will also learn what a judge would be looking for in order to get the most points and what the different rules are in the sport. Girls will receive lessons based on their riding ability and will perform a small horse presentation at the end of the camp week. Campers will earn the horse patch with rider level(s).

Girls, this is your opportunity to master your balancing and maneuvering capabilities on the Seven Hills ropes course. How far you push yourself is up to you, but it’s the experience that matters. You can do all of this while still enjoying the splendors of camp life. Back by popular demand, this program will provide you with the familiar adventures of caving/spelunking and whitewater rafting! Spend time out at Laurel Caverns Park in Farmington, PA, caving, rappelling and spelunking, then it is off to Ohiopyle State Park for adventurous whitewater rafting, hiking, exploring and camping. At the evening camp-outs, you will prepare dinners and share loads of laughs with friends under Pennsylvania’s beautiful starlit skies. Some of the Seven Hills favorites (swimming, songs, campfires, and fun) are also included in this fantastic trip program. Make it a family affair at Camp Seven Hills. During your day enjoy swimming, boating, horseback riding, crafts, games, archery, or hiking the forest trails. Spend the evening around the campfire toasting marshmallows and chatting with family and friends. The possibilities are endless.

Connect with trees and your inner archer. Starting from scratch, raw materials, and girl power, you’ll make your own wooden self-bow through traditional woodworking. LEAD LIKE A GIRL: LEADERSHIP TRAINING PROGRAMS FOR GIRLS AGE 13-17

Begin training to become a camp counselor. Junior Counselors in Training (JCITs) learn the fundamentals of leadership, camp management, childcare, and the safety and risk management aspects of running a camp program. A participant must demonstrate appropriate maturity for her age, have leadership potential, a positive attitude, and be able to work well with others. Junior CITs can access all of the basic camp programs, (e.g., swimming, exploring nature, arts & crafts, and relaxing around campfires.) This is a two-week program, but girls go home over the weekend. No application, interview, or references required.

This four-week course will concentrate on the fundamentals of the Girl Scout Camping program, counseling techniques, leadership, self-esteem, and provide skills that are necessary when working with younger campers. The CIT program is a recognized training program throughout the country and is a recommended prerequisite for summer camp employment. Camp Timbercrest is located on 900 beautiful acres of the Allegheny forest in Randolph, NY. The camp facilities includes a 31-acre lake, numerous hiking and horseback riding trails, a central dining hall, shower house, cabin and platform tent units, and horse stables. Camp Timbercrest is the perfect setting for girls in grades 1-12 to experience a great traditional summer camp program. Girls will have an opportunity to participate in a variety of activities such as swimming, boating, sailing, kayaking, arts & crafts, archery, and horseback riding. While at Camp Timbercrest your girl(s) will be able to meet and make new friends, learn more about her abilities and share the joy of summer with others.

Family members, friends, and general visitors can meet the staff and tour the camp during our Timbercrest Open House or when girls are brought to camp on Sunday.

VISITING CAMP

Bus transportation is available to Camp Timbercrest for an additional fee of $50 per girl per week. The schedule is listed by time, place and bus stop. Please note that any bus stop stated in this brochure may be cancelled due to an insufficient number of boarding passengers. In this instance, the bus fee will be refunded. Bus refunds will not be given for any other reason or circumstance.

Hike the trails by flashlight, watch for shooting stars and play glow-in-the-dark games, or maybe go on a kitchen raid, and a little shopping at the trading post. You will also take a trip to Jamestown Bowling Company for bowling, and pizza. • Girls will receive instruction in fundamentals of canoeing prior to trip departure.

• Girls must be in good physical condition and also meet the basic swim requirement. If girls do not meet the basic swim requirement they will be placed in an alternative camp program. (Basic swim consists of the front crawl and back crawl, as well as treading water for five minutes.)

• Girls and parents must attend a pre-trip orientation meeting scheduled for Thursday, June 13, 2019, from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Buffalo/Rochester Girl Scout Service Centers.

PROGRAMS FOR GIRLS ENTERING GRADES 7-12 IN FALL 2019What a better way to spend a week than at Timbercrest putting your horse skills to the test? Spend time exploring the trails at camp as you prepare for a more challenging adventure off the property. Girls will spend 2 days and 1 night navigating the trails of Pine Hill State Forest, located in Randolph, NY. During the day girls will take exciting trail rides along Pine Loop, Hooks Trail, Frog’s Run, Creekside, Zig Zag, and more while at night they will hitch up their horses, pitch tents, cook over an open fire, and share s’mores, laughter and fun with their friends. All of the other fun activities of Camp Timbercrest are also part of this great program.

• This program is not intended for the beginner rider.

• Girls must be at an intermediate or advanced level of horseback riding in order to participate in this program

• Please note that if girls do not meet the required level of horseback riding for this program they will be placed in a general horse program.

Make it a family affair at Camp Timbercrest. During your day enjoy swimming, boating, horse riding, arts and crafts, archery, or leisurely walks. Then spend the evening around the campfire toasting marshmallows and chatting with family and friends. The possibilities are endless.

• Open to all girls and their families.

• Arrival time is Friday at 8 p.m. and departure is Sunday at 9 a.m.

• Families will be placed in platform or cabin tent units only. Each sleeping tent sleeps four to five people. A family of six or more will be placed in two (2) sleeping tents.

• Horseback riding is on a first come, first served basis for an additional fee of $10 per person

• Riders must be able to ride without assistance.

• Riders must be at least 6 years old or older.

PREPARE YOURSELF FOR FUTURE SUMMER CAMP STAFF POSITIONS.

Begin training to become a camp counselor. Junior Counselors in Training (JCITs) learn the fundamentals of leadership, camp management, childcare, and the safety and risk management aspects of running a camp program. A participant must demonstrate appropriate maturity for her age, have leadership potential, a positive attitude, and be able to work well with others. Junior CITs can access all of the basic camp programs, (e.g., swimming, exploring nature, arts & crafts, and relaxing around campfires.) This is a two-week program, but girls go home over the weekend. No application, interview, or references required.

This four-week course will concentrate on the fundamentals of the Girl Scout Camping program, counseling techniques, leadership, self-esteem, and provide skills that are necessary when working with younger campers. Participants will plan and assist with the supervision of activities, as well as assist with instruction supervised by senior staff. The CIT program is a recognized training program throughout the country and is a recommended prerequisite for summer camp employment. CITs will receive certification in First Aid and CPR and their CIT pins upon successful completion of this program. Prospective CITs will receive an additional application packet that must be completed prior to the start of the program.

Girls that complete the full CIT program will be invited back the last week of camp as a Camp Timbercrest Intern.

This four-week riding program is for girls who wish to teach riding at the camp level. Concentration will include extended riding and teaching skill training, as well as counseling techniques, leadership, self-esteem and ways to work with younger campers. Riding Counselors in Training (RCIT) will receive certification in First Aid and CPR and their CIT pins after successful completion of this program. You must be at the intermediate to advanced levels of riding for this program. RCITs will earn the horse patch with rider level(s). Prospective RCITs receive an additional application packet that must be completed prior to the start of your RCIT program.

Girls that complete the full RCIT program will be invited back the last week of camp as a Camp Timbercrest Intern.
