What did the British Parliament do?

• Intolerable Acts– Closed the port of Boston– Increased the powers of the royal governor– Decreased the power of the colonial government– Strengthened the Quartering Act

• Quebec Act– Set up boundaries so the colonists couldn’t move

west

So, the Colonists started stocking up on weapons and getting ready for a fight…

When the British soldiers went to Lexington, Massachusetts…not Lexington, Kentucky…

to take their weapons away…there was a shot fired…

This became known as “the shot heard round the world”
