Introduction
The Government of Catalonia, through the Catalan Institute for Cultural Companies (ICEC), supports, for the sixth consecutive edition, the presence at Tanzmesse of a wide Catalan Delegation, with 26 representatives attending to the Fair, most of them as co-exhibitors at the Catalan Arts - Government of Catalonia Booth. This booklet gathers information on the showcases, companies, agents, key marketplaces, festivals and venues attending Tanzmesse 2018. If you want more information on a particular institution or artist, please don’t hesitate to contact them directly. You can also get in touch with us at the fair booth (57) or by contacting any of our offices -located in Barcelona, Berlin, Brussels, London and Paris for further assistance. We hope you will have a chance to meet all of them and have interesting conversations. Under the label of Catalan Arts, we strengthen the presence of Catalan companies and creative works at international fairs and key professional events, such as Tanzmesse, in our aim to connect, mentor and support creative companies in their international journey. Agente129 is a performing art agency focused on distributing scenic artistic projects in the international market. We support contemporary dance and theatre works, new languages and dramaturgies in all range of spaces; indoor, outdoor and site specific. Agente129 works with different artistic projects. “A la carte” is a punctual service specially designed for the artist needs. The agency operates with three mediators, that had decided to unify their experience in order to create a stronger projection and multiplying effect on performing arts international distribution.

Cía Pol Jiménez
Pol Jiménez (Barcelona, 1995)An emerging artist with studies in Spanish dance and flamenco, he is always looking for new codes and questions of the contemporary scene and thought to nourish his creations. His research line is basically based on the improvisation and questioning of his own training base, leading him to situate his body in unknown territories. Despite his young age, he has an intense career as a dancer and choreographer, and he has worked with companies or choreographers such as La Fura dels Baus, Cesc Gelabert or Juan Carlos Lérida.

CIA Sebastián García Ferro
Sebastián García Ferro is a choreographer, dancer, performer, director and musician. He has worked in and premiered 20 pieces of contemporary dance, having been awarded different prizes and commissioned works including the Mercat de les Flors Tot Dansa in 2011/12, IMEB and Institut del Teatre, 1st Prize at Masdanza (2007) with his piece “Back”, 3rd Prize at Salt (2006) with “On Your Mark”, as well as 10 theatre pieces and over 20 performances and installations, both as an individual creator and with different companies from South America and Europe.

In 2000 Olga Cobos and Peter Mika create CobosMika Company. Their daring, explosive and virtuous choreographic language blends dance with improvisation and adds elements from martial arts and physical theatre. Established in its origins in Germany, in 2005 CobosMika decides to move to Palamós, Olga’s home town, where they are the resident company at Teatre La Gorga. In January 2009 they inaugurate a new creation, training and research centre for amateurs with a professional dance master, CobosMika SEEDs.

The Lamajara collective is an organization of artists who share their own concerns about the language of the body and its possibilities for expression. It is formed by emerging creators, dancers and collaborators of other artistic disciplines. The collective organizes their work cooperatively, fostering dialogue and consensus towards a common methodology. The main objective of the group is the support to the free artistic expression, helping in the production of a free and eclectic creation.

Delrevesvertical dance
Delrevés is a vertical dancing company, founded by Saioa Fernández and Eduardo Torres. The company has built a solid international career, by presenting its Works in four out of the five continents. Delrevés gives a new vision of the vertical dancing, by creating a unique and innovative language what makes it to be well-known and valued. Since they come from different disciplines, their main objective is the fusion of several art languages, like digital arts, theatre and contemporary and vertical dancing, using architecture as a support for movement.

La Veronal
Marcos Morau studied choreography at the Institut del Teatre de Barcelona, the Conservatorio Superior de Danza de Valencia and Movement Research in New York. His artistic skills are not limited to dance but extended into disciplines such as photography and drama. In 2005 he created La Veronal, a collective formed by artists from the dance, film, photography and literature. Marcos Morau has been awarded with the National Dance Award of Spain 2013, granted by the Spanish Ministry of Culture, as well as other renowned national and international awards.

Thorus Arts
Thorus Arts is a Barcelona-based performing arts company and producer created by the Catalan multidisciplinary artist Ferran Carvajal and North American producer Trevor Carlson. Our latest creation, Not a moment too soon, is a theatrical-movement portrait for the stage that integrates dance, text, music and video. This production traces the lives of choreographer Merce Cunningham and his last executive director Trevor Carlson. It is performed as a solo and told in first-person, from the perspective of Trevor Carlson.

Festival Sismògraf
Sismògraf Dance Festival begins in 2009 with the aim of bringing together a variety of dance proposals performed as part of city of Olot’s cultural program. Since its 2015 edition is one of the Government of Catalonia’s strategic marketplaces. Sismògraf strives to be the epicenter of Dance in Catalonia with a two-fold purpose in mind: to act as a Dance Market and as a Festival. Catalan Institute for Cultural Companies Catalan Arts - Government of Catalonia
The Catalan Institute for Cultural Companies (ICEC) is a public institution of the Government of Catalonia’s Ministry of Culture that looks after the development and the consolidation of the Catalan creative sectors as an uplift for its professionalization. ICEC advises and accompanies Catalan companies in their development process in several sectors such as: music, performing arts, visual arts, audiovisual, books and digital culture. Catalan Arts is the brand used by ICEC for the international promotion of Catalan companies. Via ICEC’s offices network (Barcelona, Berlin, Brussels, London and Paris) we work on a variety of lines of action: connecting, mentoring and supporting creative companies in their international journey. To this end, Catalan Arts strengthens the presence of Catalan companies and creative works at international fairs and key professional events and offers all kinds of useful materials and resources to professionals.

Institut Ramon Llull
The Institut Ramon Llull is a public consortium established in 2002 with the aim of promoting Catalan language and culture abroad. The IRL’s work is structured in three main areas promoting the following: Catalan literary and scholarly works (Literature and the Humanities Department); Catalan studies in academic settings (Language and Universities Department); and visual arts, architecture and design, performing arts, music and film (Performing and Visual Arts Department). The Performing and Visual Arts Department gives wide exposure to Catalan culture through organizing events and promoting Catalan artist’s presence at international events through cooperation agreements and travel grants for artists.

Mercat de les Flors/Casa de la Dansa
The Barcelona public theatre of the Mercat de les Flors is a public consortium made by the Barcelona City Council and the Government of Catalonia, and it is supported by the Ministry of Culture. The goal to the Mercat is to be a reference point for all those artistic disciplines related to movement, principally dance but also visual and gestural theatre, circus, and so on. As well as serving as an important venue for performances by national and international companies.
