During the last week of school before Winter Break (12/10-12/14), a group of 7th grade students calling

themselvesSOS (Save Our Society)will be selling hand-made crafts before and after school. These stu-

dents arereallyexcited about raising money to support the relief efforts of 'World Vision' - a nonprofit or-

ganization focused on international aid. So.... there will be all kinds of goodies, from snacks to beaded jew-

elry to duct-tape crafts, to hand-knit scarves..all at VERY reasonable prices. Every cent they raise will be

designated for Syrian war refugees, specifically all the children who have been affected. They need all the

provision and warmth we can give them this time of year.

That said, we need some donated items to get these crafts assembled! If you have any items to give,

please bring them to the office, and let them know they are for SOS, or Mrs. Kemp.

The list: solid colored or striped (not white) men's-sized t-shirts, yarn, duct tape, glitter, beads, fishing line,

costume jewelry, strips of leather, crochet hooks, knitting needles.

    Thank you in advance!

    Parents/Guardians:

We are in full swing with our Box Tops Across America contest! Every student has brought home a

school-addressed envelope and a note explaining to receiver that we are trying to collect box tops from

every state! MAKE SURE you fill in your name and teacher name before mailing. You can send the enve-

lope and note separately, or slip them into a holiday card. We encourage you to make copies of the note

and send envelopes to everyone you know. If you could include a stamp on the envelope, that would en-

courage participation. There will be a US map hanging in the cafeteria. We will put a push pin in each stateas we receive box tops from that state. The grade level that collects from the most states will receive an

extra recess. If all 50 states are covered, every grade level will win! We will use the postmark on the enve-

lope to count for the state. Each grade level will receive CO as a start.

I also want to encourage everyone to collect their own box tops over Winter Break! There will be ten draw-

ings for a Wendys Frosty. Collect your box tops and send in a Ziploc bag, envelope, etc. marked with your

name and teacher name. Be sure to ask friends/coworkers/family to save for you! All box tops must be re-

    ceived by January 10, 2013.

Thank you for supporting Erie Middle School and turning your Trash Into Cash!
