Here, in the heart of West Yorkshire, lies an opportunity for you to fully immerse yourself into an English and activities based programme with friends from all over the world.

Ackworth International Summer School offers courses designed to appeal to boys and girls aged 11–17 who wish to improve their level of English whilst embracing the true British boarding school experience.

From the very first moment you step on to our stunning rural campus, you will become part of the Ackworth family. You will instantly find yourself adapting to different cultures and experiencing a huge range of exciting new activities.

Our qualified native speaking teachers will teach you for 22 hours per week in small classes sizes, ensuring they can offer you plenty of time and attention.

On the first morning of classes, you will complete a short test which will help us to place you in the appropriate class.

You will be given a dedicated learning mentor who is able to provide you with any extra support you may need in the classroom.

Your learning mentor will explore other subjects such as History and Drama all within the English as an Additional Language (EAL) curriculum. Our highly qualified teachers use a wide range of resources, multimedia tools and teaching methods to provide you with the best tuition.

In the Classroom

After your English lessons, you can choose from a wide range of exciting and engaging activities. There will be two options available to choose from each afternoon, between 2.00pm–5.00pm. They include:

• Arts & Crafts

• Board Games

• Orienteering

• Dance

• Table Tennis

• Swimming

Alternatively, you can choose one of our specialist activities* which include:

• Snow Sports

• Tennis

If you choose one of the specialist activities, you will focus only on this activity. We will provide specialist tuition for three hours every afternoon in your chosen course.

Your evening social programme will involve you participating in activities with all of your friends as one big group. The social activity programme takes place between 7.00pm–9.00pm every evening. During this time, you can expect to enjoy the following:

At Ackworth International Summer School, we like to recognise the success of all our pupils. Each week we will hold a celebration ceremony where we will

award ‘Student of the Week’ and give special mentions to outstanding pupils.

Each pupil will also receive a certificate of attendance and achievement which will state their achieved level of English, along with the total number of learning hours.

The evening will end with a BBQ and a disco, where you can dance the night away.

Make Yourself at Home!

You will soon find yourself at home here at Ackworth International Summer School. We offer comfortable and modern living spaces, within our supervised boarding houses.

Our boarding houses are somewhere for you to relax and socialise, and each have a TV, DVD player, electronic games machines, books, board games and kitchen facilities.

The campus has a student Wi-Fi network which you can connect to when you first arrive at Ackworth School. We do monitor the use of mobile devices closely and your telephones must be left with the Summer School Director before lessons each day.

Absolutely everyone at Ackworth International Summer School is committed to providing a safe and caring environment for our pupils. Our aim is for you to return home with exciting memories of our wonderful school and for you to be able to share them with your family and friends.

During the course of the summer, there will be a supervisor living in the boarding house to take care of your day to day needs. In the unlikely event of you requiring any medical assistance, your supervisor will deal with this efficiently and ensure you are happy and healthy at all times.

If you are lucky enough to have your birthday during your time at Ackworth International Summer School, we will arrange your very own birthday party with a cake!
