Simian Mobile Disco have spent 2010 creating a series of techno releases on their new imprint Delicacies. Additionally Jas Shaw and James Ford have been accompanying these 12"s by curating their Delicatessen parties around the UK.
SMD are now set to release the complete Delicacies series on one album. You may have already noticed that each title bears the name of a bizarre and exotic delicacy discovered by James and Jas whilst touring around the World. Amalgamating hard edged analogue beat structures as well as some of the more mellow, melodic aspects of techno, Delicacies reiterates the sheer excellent musical eccentricity that Simian Mobile Disco continue to create. The two disc album also features a bonus mixed version recorded live in the studio. Delicacies is a unique offering from one of the most exciting acts in electronic music.

GOLD MOTEL is releasing their debut full-length, Summer House, on their own imprint, Good as Gold Records. The Chicago-based quintet originated in the warmer climate of Los Angeles during the summer of 2009. Greta Morgan (The Hush Sound) returned from a year in Southern California to her hometown of Chicago, bringing with her what would become the five-song GOLD MOTEL EP. Collaborating with her friend Dan Duzsynzski (This Is Me Smiling), recording began on a set of sharp, sunny pop songs with a decidedly West Coast outlook. Working with Duzsynski, Morgan realized that her pre-conceived solo project could grow into a full band effort.
Through the fall of 2009, GOLD MOTEL transformed into a full-fledged band, adding Chicago music veterans Matt “Minx” Schuessler, Adam Kaltenhauser (both of This is Me Smiling), and Eric Hehr (The Yearbooks). The super group played together live for the first time in December of 2009 with a sold out headlining debut at Chicago’s Beat Kitchen, coinciding with the release of the GOLD MOTEL EP.
Since then, GOLD MOTEL has headlined shows from Los Angeles to New York (and most cities in between) in support of Summer House. In October 2010, they will release a two-song 7 inch vinyl, Talking Fiction. You can hear GOLD MOTEL songs in ads for US Bank, Kohl’s, Crayola and many more. Steve WynnNortherN AggressioNNATIONAL reLeAse dATe: Cd: 11.30.2010In 1982 Steve Wynn broke onto the music scene with Dream Syndicate and their classic album The Days of Wine and Roses. In 2009, he and his current band of gunslingers the Miracle 3 rolled into Richmond, VA to record their first new album together in more than five years. Upon their arrival, pal and band mate Stephen McCarthy jokingly warned him to “leave your northern aggression at the door.” The phrase that became the ensuing album’s title seemed all too apropos. Northern Aggression is psychedelic,
greasy, sneaky, manic, wise, seasoned, nervous and ragged in all the right places. But this was no civil war, no bloody battle, no historical reenactment. No, this was Wynn and the Miracle 3 doing what they do best-colliding against each other and their surroundings, not holding back and barely taking stock until all was done.

Hanni grew up in San Franscisco, California. The son of Palestin-
ian and Filipino immigrants and the first American in his family,
he became obsessed with classic Americana and pop culture of the
1950s and 60s. Influenced by pioneers of early rock and r&b
(Johnny Burnette, Sam Cooke, Johnny Cash), El Khatib created a
musical aesthetic to match his vision. The multi-instrumentalist
serves as singer, songwriter & producer for his one-man band (live
he is joined by a drummer) that is part blues, part garage rock, part
soul, part folk & part doo whop. As the creative director for HUF
and lifelong skater, El Khatib professes to a love for well-crafted
objects: classsic cars, cans pomade and stiletto switchblades. This
craftsmanship carries over into his music, where El Khatib is
inspired and informed by the specificity of a guitar tone or the
fuzziness of an amp sound .
The second 7 inch vinyl single from his upcoming debut, "Build.
Destroy. Rebuild" is an anthem that speaks to a current generation
that has lived through abundant times, has recently lost it's footing,
but has the optimism to persevere. Armed with a guitar and the
lyrical proclamation of a preacher, El Khatib takes to the pulpit to
declare the cycles of change that exist in society. The b-side
"Loved One" is a rambling ode to a femme fatale who has that
"vampire look tonight." Both tracks are a magnificent prelude to
what the debut LP "Will The Guns Come Out" has in store.

"This mix was constructed on planes, trains, hotel rooms and in the studio throughout the months May, June, July using vinyl, CDs, Wavs and a DAT in Ableton Live and Logic.
A suitably diverse number of locations, formats and tools for a diverse label like Ninja Tune. A label that spans two thirds of my life, from putting DJ Vadim records on my christmas list (Santa decided to go with Dr Octagon - Instrumentalyst instead) to being turned away from a sold-out show to celebrate the tenth Ninja birthday, i've truly grown up to the sounds of this label's catalogue.
Ninja's history being so entwined with my own only makes a project like this harder. An ignorant person may not feel guilty about leaving out something from Bogus Order's Zen Breaks whose record was used for the static sound of needle hitting vinyl that appears a few times in this mix or for leaving out Drome. That problem is then compounded by the next - everyone knows the classics - Timber, Witness, Dark Lady... they've been on countless mixes before, but they need to be in here.. perhaps.. perhaps.... perhaps the way out is to get creative with these, to put a new spin on them. Ninja has a rich tradition of getting creative behind the turntables, from Coldcut's groundbreaking ' 70 Minutes Of Madness' Journeys By DJ mix to the diverse Solid Steel series, so why not try and up the ante a little?
So three months and a little over 250 tracks later I arrive at 74 minutes of music mixed, blended, sliced, diced, torn up and finally rendered to audio. A lot of classics, personal favourites, some slept on and a few exclusive acapellas and instrumentals care of the Ninja family. Sure there are some classics left off - The Crow immediately springs to mind, but as it stands this is The Way Of The Ninja', not only a Ninja Tune retrospective but the sound of my last 20 years."

His razor sharp productions are bringing his unique and very influential - especially on Bristol's “Purple” sound - skills back into the public eye with re-leases on Hyperdub, as well as Planet Mu, Butterz, and his own Hardrive imprint. Terror Danjah makes Afrobotic grime productions; an Escher-like sound which combines complex clusters of asymmetric rhythms and offbeat trapdoors with swooping synths and fx, all tagged with his trademark Gremlin Cackle audio logo. While his previous long play-ers have been closer to mix-tapes or retrospective compilations, „Undeniable‟, racked full of new productions and mutations of some classics from Grime's golden days, sees him flexing with ease across the tangled landscape of British electronic music at the close of 2010, from vocal and instrumental grime and dubstep to underground house.
BRIAN JONESTOWN MASSACRE — If You Love Me EP FORMAT - LP (180 GRM) LABEL - ‘a’ Records UPC - 5055300320636 CATALOG # - AUK021LP LIST PRICE - $19.99 Originally released in 1996 , this 180 grm vinyl re-issue the last in the 1990‟s EP series on Anton Newcombe‟s own ‟a‟ Records label , this will not be released on CD . This features 3 versions of songs on the A side from the Bravery Repetition & Noise sessions , the B side features 3 tracks from the early beginnings of the band from 1991 & 1992 . Originally Newcombe was heavily influenced by The Rolling Stones' psychedelic phase - the name comes from Stones guitarist Brian Jones combined with a reference to cult leader Jim Jones, but his work in the 2000s has expanded into aesthetic dimensions approximating the UK Shoegazing genre of the 1990s and incorporating influences from world music, especially Middle Eastern and Brazilian music.
PHIL SHOENFELT —Paranoia.com FORMAT - CD LABEL - Easy Action UPC - 5060174950995 CATALOG # - EARS013 LIST PRICE - $15.99 A double compilation CD was finally released on the UK label Voiceprint in 2004. "Paranoia.com" is much more in a hard rock direction than anything we've done previ-ously. I'd say that bands like The Stooges, Joy Division, The Jesus and Mary Chain and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club were an influence, as well as my old NYC band Khmer Rouge. I'm really happy with the overall sound of the CD, it's very layered and tex-tured, with multiple guitar tracks and half submerged melodies. I think it's a very spacey sound, kind of trippy at the same time as it's grungy and metallic. Album cover art is a painting by artist Claus Casten-skiold, who painted the classic Fall album cover „The wonderful fright-ening world of the fall.„
DAVID WRENCH —Spades & Hoes & Plows FORMAT - CD LABEL - Invada UPC - 5024545596427 CATALOG # - INV085CD LIST PRICE - CD: $15.99 Spades & Hoes & Plows is the third solo album by Welsh producer, pianist and songwriter David Wrench, and was commissioned for Julian Cope's Black Sheep by Cope and Fat Pauland in effect can be considered the follow up to Cope's Black Sheep album - KISS MY SWEET APOCALYPSE from last year which featured Wrench performing vocals. The album presents four traditional folk themes from the British Isles, all performed in an eerily upfront and cadaverous manner, reminiscent of such late black metal as Furze, or per-haps a radical hybrid of Andrew King and an acoustic Khanate.

‘The Crystal Axis’ is Midnight Juggernauts’ second album - their first since ‘Dystopia’ launched the Australian trio into a vortex of global intrigue. For those who arrived late, Andrew Szekeres, Vincent Vendetta and Daniel Stricker had pursued an organic course through multiple indie EPs, singles, and retro-futurist videos before they found themselves hailed as de facto pioneers of a perceived new frontier of “indie-dance” circa 2007/08. But the infinite unknowns of musical imagination will always make light of such musty generic pigeonholes. “We’ve always seen ourselves as a band that continues to push itself and evolve,” says Vincent. “We could see that the scenes we’d been linked with had crossed over to larger audiences — and that’s great. We could easily had made more music in that vein, but for this time round we decided to take a more unpredictable path, to explore a few new tangents.” Ground zero for ‘The Crystal Axis’ was live experimentation.
Having spent much of 2008 satisfying a raging hunger on the worldwide stage — from Australia’s Big Day Out to Coachella, Fuji Rock, Glastonbury and the Montreaux Jazz Festival — the Juggernauts were bristling with the kind of intuitive performance chemistry that demands spontaneous creativity. In early 2009, they wired themselves into a house on a remote stretch of coastal New South Wales, and the writing process immediately took on a life of its own. The band emerged with a large collection of songs ripe for recording at Melbourne’s Sing Sing Studios. Befitting the DIY ethic of their self-owned and operated Siberia label, they again opted to self-produce, with engineer Chris Moore (TV On The Radio, Yeasayer, Yeah Yeah Yeahs) facilitating.

Igor Boxx known also as Igor Pudlo (from Ninja Tune’s Polish act Skalpel) is opening a new decade with his first solo album, Breslau.
Skalpel have released two acclaimed albums on Ninja Tune – Skalpel (2004) and Konfusion (2005) have become one of the most important Polish music exports, well received both in Poland and internationally.
In Igor’s solo debut album, the inspiration comes like before from his home country and his home town. Breslau tells a tale of 1945 siege of Festung Breslau undertaken by the Red Army. The historical background might mean nothing to an average listener not familiar with the multinational and multicultural history of Breslau (now known as Wroclaw) but this journey is musically so emotional and powerful that it allows anyone to follow the story. Sounds are used to depict the massive force and fury of bolsheviks‘ attack and the determination of the terrorized civil population of the city to hold on. Krautrock grinding illustrates the monotony of the endless battle, psychodelic ornaments underline the absurd of wartime madness, jazz rhythms sound off the chaos on both sides of the conflict whilst ambient timelessness paints the overwhelming desperation of city defenders‘ efforts.
The live version is more dynamic than the studio version describing the atmosphere of the last group of terrified citizens of Breslau whose dramatic faith is drummed out by Stalin’s organs. The Dance macabre in the ruins of burning, doomed city will be explosive.
Nate Kinsella is a musician and composer from Chicago. He played in the avant-garde rock bands Make Believe and Joan of Arc for several years before starting a solo project under the moniker Birthmark in 2006. As Birthmark, Nate writes for a wide array of instruments, ranging from vocal choirs to the cuica, while also playing and recording most of the instruments on his albums himself.

Birthmark is the solo project of Chicago-based musician and composer Nate Kinsella. Nate wrote and recorded the second Birthmark album, Shaking Hands, over a 3-year period. Evidence of Nate’s songwriting process of recording, editing, and re-recording can be
heard in the album’s first two songs, which play as mirror images of each other. After amassing several
hard drives of music, Nate finally decided to give himself a deadline to complete the album. He chose
the songs that appear on the album from a list of many— more for their differences from each other than
for their similarities. The result is Shaking Hands, named after a Birthmark song that didn’t make it onto
the album. The album will be released on Hidden Agenda Records in November 2010.

noise" MARVELLOUSFormed by five friends in Brighton back in 2004, Shrag have come a long way from their DIY roots to
flourish into a proper indie pop band to be reckoned with.. With an exhilarating blend of dirty, distorted post-punk guitars,
shouty boy/girl vocals and fantastic pop songs, Shrag bring us a distinctively British experience, drawing inspiration from
the likes of The Au Pairs, B-52s and Prolapse. Whilst their songs have a certain melodic bounce, this belies a darker under-
belly, with a wry intelligence, and references to surrealist film, literature and pop culture. Shrag have built an exciting l ive
reputation and a devoted following, previewing the new songs from the forthcoming album for a number of months and
building huge anticipation for Life! Death! Prizes! amongst their loyal fans. Songs such as Ghosts Before Breakfast and The
Habit Creep are amongst the live highlights.
The band have toured the UK twice with The Cribs, and last year with The Pains of Being Pure at Heart. They also toured
Europe in December 2009 and played London Popfest in February 2010. Further festival appearances will precede a head-
line UK tour later in the year. Their debut self-titled debut album was released in 2009, a compilation of the five 7" singles
they had so far released. Fresh from his success with Love Is All and Comet Gain, legendary producer (and Morrissey drum-
mer) Woodie Taylor, offered to mix the bands recordings. The album, released in the UK and licensed to Japanese label
Knew Noise Recordings, was met with critical acclaim from, amongst others, Uncut, Pitchfork, the Sunday Times, and
Artrocker, who asserted the album demonstrated that "their fiery intelligence is uniquely threatening in a world dominated
by dullsville NME bands; there's more of a sense of danger when Shrag go to the bathroom than there is in the entire me-
phitic stench of indie’s decaying corpse." The upcoming album Life! Death! Prizes!, once again mixed by Woodie Taylor, is
considered by the band to be their first album proper, with a progression both musically and lyrically that will bring their
unconventional sounds to new receptive ears.
The first single to be released from it, Rabbit Kids, received numerous plays on BBC 6Music, where the band have also
played multiple live sessions with Marc Riley. The song was chosen by Stuart Maconie and Mark Radcliffe to compete as a
Single of the Week on their BBC Radio 2 show, and also caught the attention of hugely influential US site Pitchfork, who
described Shrag as “one of those bands whose tunes and natural charisma could easily endear them to a wider audience,
but whom the vagaries of record release dates, hype cycles, and airline prices have so far conspired to keep a well-loved
secret”. This won’t be the case for too much longer, as Shrag have now been invited to play New York’s 2010 CMJ Music
Marathon.

The record begins with DELS dropping a collage of thoughts and images over Goddard’s chugging, squelching beat. Orignally conceived as a revocal with new lyrics from DELS complemented by fellow next-gen UK rapper Ghostpoet, Goddard liked the new, melancholy feel of the words so much, he re-worked the music to emphasise this aspect even more. The results are spell-binding, a falling, stumbling ballad. Paper Tiger take the original and morph the rhythm into afro-beat-dancehall, pulling the beat around and making a sparse, effective re-work. Gwilym Gold (of Golden Silvers), meanwhile, turns in his Way Below Hell mix, upping the atmosphere even further with a version that creeps through a number of distinct movements while remaining chilling and unsettling throughout. As if all this wasn’t enough, DELS has once again collaborated with US Design Studio to produce a promo video for the song that is a massive step up even on what they achieved with “Shapeshift.” Taking its inspiration from DELS second verse line “am I dreaming in colour or black with the white?” the video creates – with absolutely no post-production tricks - a world split down the middle along these lines. Rewarding repeat viewings, this is a truly outstanding video for an outstanding song.
