GLOBAL WARMING

Page 2: 1 global warming is real vn

Pollution• Americans use about 2.2 billion pounds of pest

asides every year• 1.2 trillion gallons of sewage, storm water, and

industrial waste are put into the us water ways annually

• Polluted drinking waters are a huge problem for about half the world population

• Each year about 250 million cases of water based diseases result in in 5 to 10 million deaths

Fossil Fuels

• When we burn fossil fuels we put bad gases and smoke throughout the atmosphere

• Coal, oil, and natural gas are a non renewable source

• Fossil Fuels provide about 85% of the Earth’s power

Gases in the Atmosphere

• Oxygen- a main component of the air we breath (20.0%)

• Carbon Dioxide- increasing rapidly (0.03%)• Nitrogen- lighter than air (78.1%)• Methane- very flammable and is increasing • Hydrogen sulfide• Radiation- heat waves off objects• Pressure decreases and increases depending on

the altitude in the atmosphere

Co2

• The co2 concentration in the atmosphere has doubled since 1970

• When then co2 concentration increases so does the global temperatures

• Over 400,000 square miles of ice have melted because of the increase of temperatures which are caused by co2 increase

• CO2 is colorless, odorless, tasteless, non-flammable • Carbon dioxide is used in food and beverage.• It is used in food to protect food and texture. Also to reduce

the need of preservatives in the food.
