The Executive Order definition - “Sustainability" and "sustainable" mean to create and maintain conditions, under which humans and nature can exist in productive humans and nature can exist in productive harmonyharmony, that permit fulfilling the social, economic, and other requirements of present and future generations

Initial sustainable process changes cost BP $20M, by 2006 BP had saved $1.5 Billion.
IBM overshot its five-year greenhouse gas reduction target (in 2003), saving $115 Million through energy-efficiency initiatives such as redesigning heating and cooling systems.
