Installing and Configuring TaxWise

Installing from TaxWise CD

• Insert your TaxWise 2006 CD into your CD drive.– If the installation program does not start

automatically click the Start button on the Windows Taskbar and then click run.

– Type D://startup in the Open dialog box and click OK.

Installing from TaxWise CD

• Click INSTALL on the left.

• Select TaxWise 2006 in the INSTALL NOW box on the right side of the window.

• Read the license agreement and click YES.

• Do one of the following:– If you already have

TaxWise installed, the installation wizard displays the Select Option dialog box.

– Select Re-install TaxWise and click Next.

• Select the drive to which you wish to install TaxWise, and click Next.

• Do one of the following:– If this is a stand

alone installation, click NO.

– Otherwise, click Yes

• Follow the on-screen directions for defining a workstation.

• Click OK.

• Choose one of the following:– Click Yes to launch

TaxWise.– Click No to return

to Windows

Downloading TaxWise from the Internet

• Double click on the icon for your web browser.

• Type: http://download.taxwise.com/taxwise.zip in the address bar and press Enter.

• Click Save.

Downloading TaxWise from the Internet

• If the Desktop does not display in the Save in box, click the Desktop icon in the left side of the Save As dialog box.

• Click the Save button to save the file taxwise.zip to your desktop.

Extracting the Download File

• Double-click the TaxWise Installation folder on your desktop.

• Double-click the file taxwise.zip• Double-click the TaxWise06CD folder.• Double-click the Startup.exe icon to

launch the TaxWise Installation.

Carrying Forward Setup

• Setup Information • EIN Database• Client Letters

– These options are only available the first time you enter TaxWise.

TaxWise Setup Options

• By default TaxWise displays the Setup Options dialog box:

Registering TaxWise

• Once you have completed Setup Options, TaxWise displays the Register Software box:

• Verify your EFIN/Customer Number box and press the Tab Key.

• Enter your registration code in the Registration Code box and press the Enter key.

Transmit for Multiple EFINS

• Click Register Software on the Setup menu in TaxWise Utility.

• Enter the EFIN for the next site in the EFIN/Customer Number box and press the Tab key.

Transmit for Multiple EFINS

• Enter the Transmit Code in the Registration Code box and press the Enter key.

• Repeat these steps for each EFIN for which you will transmit returns.
