Presidents Report

We had a fabulous competition at the end of September. The sun shone and the competitors were smiling. Again we clashed

with a lot of competitions, but the quality and enough quantity was present to make a great day. A smooth running comp was

had by all – the volunteers who made the day happen did a terrific job and I do not recall hearing any complaints or issues crop

up at all. Well done!

Now for the last competition of the year in November. This is the last chance for club members to accumulate 2 hours of

volunteer time – making you eligible for Horse of the Year Prizes and club performance medallions. If you have not volunteered

for 2 hours and want to or are unsure if you have met the requirements this year (it is amazing how the year flies by and that

volunteering you did was actually last calendar year!), please contact the club and we will confirm your status or slot you in for a

volunteering positive in the November comp. Volunteering does actually require people to go out of their way – eg come to the

comp a bit early or leave a bit later than you would normally have done when you were not helping. We can provide a stable for

your horse while you help and also a gift voucher to soften the pain a bit – it is so good, it is almost not ‘volunteering’ at all…. As

usual, point scores are hotly contested - do not miss out on a technicality.

CCDA held their AGM in early September with three new committee members joining the group – welcome to Traci Sherlock,

Libby Sauer and Katherine Brownlee. Unfortunately, I could not make the AGM myself, but I am really looking forward to

working with these ladies in the future. I would also like to thank the committee members for continuing to support the club.

They do a superb job. Check out the minutes in this newsletter to see what has changed.

Happy riding,

Claire

CCDA President

Vale Annie Hay

Anne Hay was a founding member of Central Coast Dressage Inc and passed away suddenly on Sunday 31st August 2014. Even

though Anne and her husband Ian (“Swampy”) moved away to live in the Hunter some years ago she always took an interest in

the Club and many of its member’s, and looked forward to coming to our annual presentation nights to catch up with old

friends. Anne devoted much of her life to the study and training of classical dressage and trained a number of horses to FEI.

Anne was a well-known competitor around our region and in Sydney in years gone by. After developing leukaemia Anne’s riding

was slightly curtailed but she made sure any extra energy she had was put into riding and care of her beloved ponies. Wherever

you are now Annie, I hope you are able to ride the perfect dressage test.

CENTRAL COAST DRESSAGE ASSOCIATION

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING MINUTES Held on Wednesday 3rd September 2014

At Ourimbah RSL Club

Started @7.30 pm

1. Attendees – Karen Jessup, Tina Armstrong, Chelsea Hastings, Eva Wright, Sue Barrett, Bill Barrett, Dallas Sharvell, Jane Stanford, Lisa MacDonald, Traci Sherlock, Katherine Brownlee, Wendy Paxton, Cindy

Kelly, Michel Oakley

2. Apologies – Claire Heenan, Melanie Conditsis

3. Annual Reports Presidents Report 2013-14

CCDA have again held 4 competitions in the last AGM year (as with last year, our March competition was cancelled

due to rain). Competitions have been well attended with some new faces showing up beside the regular and well

known ones. This is the first full year of having been under the new EA competition structure and competitors are

still getting used to it. CCDA has concerned itself with determining the best arrangement for competitors wanting

qualifications and club members wanting to head out to their local competition. The new EA system solidly pushes

competitors away from joining clubs. This may be convenient for the EA, but is lousy for clubs, competitors having

a sense of belonging, plus club administration and competition organisation. Although if competitors were more

willing to volunteer on the day, some of these issues would be less of a problem. The committee always welcomes

feedback from the club membership – so we know what is working for you and what you wish for in your club –

please talk to us.

Throughout the year we had many of our club members star in the wider competitive circuit. There are many to

name (and I apologise if I miss any) and notables were Revelwood stud – Amanda & David Shoobridge on many of

their horses (and pony), Brianna Cartwright, Gina Montgomery, Michel Oakley, Anna Lockwood & Caitlin Neale. Well

done!

The club remains on solid financial footing. We will be reassessing the competition, membership and fees structure

for the upcoming year at this AGM. We always plan to keep the club well founded and forward looking, as well as

working for our membership.

This next year will sit under the new EA requirements for Hendra Virus challenges. We have calculated that the club

competitions do not meet the risk assessment for mandating Hendra vaccination – however we would like to see

competitors coming from Hendra endemic areas seriously consider vaccination prior to travelling to competitions.

I would like to thank the serving committee for their dedication to making this club a success. I formally recognise

and am grateful for their contribution to doing what can be a tough job and doing it well. Without these volunteers,

this club would not be viable. Some of our committee are stepping down from the committee or the roles they have

held for some time and as such, we do need new people interested in taking on minor club roles for the next year.

Thank you.

Claire Heenan

For the Period July 2013 to June 2014

Total Income $22,793.22

Total Expenses $24,471.44

Net Loss $ 1,678.22

General Comments

At the beginning of the year being July 2013 showed the financial year started off well with a $4,500.00 profit due to

good levels of Entries and no one off annual expenses.

The Financial reports (attached) for the period 1st July 2013 to 30th June 2014 show CCDA income and expenses for

the year. During the last financial year the Club was face with a number one off annual expenses, such as ribbons,

trophies, printing costs and website subscriptions. As well as the expensive cost for the venue hire, judges,

volunteers and catering. Therefore, overall financial result is a decline compared to previous financial year

achievement and may be a direct result of the economic times.

CCDA may need to look at raising entry fees for their classes due to expenses of holding competitions. Items below

for discussion are as follows:

1. Judges $ 5,612.61 2. Volunteers Gifts $ 1,187.48 3. Catering $ 2,039.65 4. Venue Hire $ 7,732.00 5. Ribbons/Trophies $ 4,565.34

Total $21,137.08

Overall CCDA is still in a great financial position having a total of $25,953.59 in both a working bank account and

term deposit accounts.
