The Holy Bible: King James Version. 2000.The First Book of Moses, Called

Genesis1

The Creation1

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.2

And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face ofthe deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

3¶ And God said, Let there be light: 2 Cor. 4.6 and there was light.

4And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from thedarkness.

5And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And theevening and the morning were the first day.

6¶ And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let itdivide the waters from the waters.

7And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under thefirmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.

8And God called the firmament Heaven. 2 Pet. 3.5 And the evening and the morningwere the second day.

9¶ And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto oneplace, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.

10And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waterscalled he Seas: and God saw that it was good.

11And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, andthe fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon theearth: and it was so.

12And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, andthe tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God sawthat it was good.

13And the evening and the morning were the third day.

14¶ And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to dividethe day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and fordays, and years:

15and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light uponthe earth: and it was so

16And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and thelesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.

17And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,

18and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from thedarkness: and God saw that it was good.

19And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

20¶ And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creaturethat hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament ofheaven.

21And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, whichthe waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowlafter his kind: and God saw that it was good.

22And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters inthe seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.

23And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

24¶ And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind,cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.

25And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind,and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that itwas good.

26¶ And God said, Let us make man in our image, 1 Cor. 11.7 after our likeness: andlet them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air,and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing thatcreepeth upon the earth.

27So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him;male and female created he them. Mt. 19.4 · Mk. 10.6

28And God blessed them, Gen. 5.1, 2 and God said unto them, Be fruitful, andmultiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over thefish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing thatmoveth upon the earth.

29And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which isupon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a treeyielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

30And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thingthat creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every greenherb for meat: and it was so.

31And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good.And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

Genesis 2 1Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.

2And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and herested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. Heb. 4.4, 10

In sociology, anthropology and culturalstudies, a subculture is a group of peoplewithin a culture (whether distinct or hidden)which differentiates them from the largerculture to which they belong.

In 2007, Ken Gelder proposed to distinguishsubcultures from countercultures based onthe level of immersion in society. Gelderfurther proposed six key ways in whichsubcultures can be identified:

1. through their often negative relations towork (as 'idle', 'parasitic', at play or atleisure, etc.);

2. through their negative or ambivalentrelation to class (since subcultures are not'class-conscious' and don't conform totraditional class definitions);

3. through their association with territory(the 'street', the 'hood', the club, etc.), ratherthan property;

4. through their movement out of the homeand into non-domestic forms of belonging(i.e. social groups other than the family);

5. through their stylistic ties to excess andexaggeration (with some exceptions);

6. through their refusal of the banalities ofordinary life and massification.

The study of subcultures often consists ofthe study of symbolism attached to clothing,music and other visible affectations bymembers of subcultures, and also the waysin which these same symbols are interpretedby members of the dominant culture.According to Dick Hebdige, members of asubculture often signal their membershipthrough a distinctive and symbolic use ofstyle, which includes fashions, mannerisms,and argot.

Subcultures can exist at all levels oforganizations, highlighting the fact that thereare multiple cultures or value combinationsusually evident in any one organization thatcan complement but also compete with theoverall organizational culture. In somecases, subcultures have been legislatedagainst, and their activities regulated orcurtailed.

Pillows can be traced as far back as Mesopotamia (today’s Iraq)and ancient Egypt. Head rests were found in pharaohs’ tombs. Earlyversions were for the privileged and rich, according to “Really Useful:The Origins of Everyday Things” by Joel Levy, but they were hardlycushy. Most were solid wood, carved or curved slightly in the middle.

For more than a millennium, Chinese dynasties used wood, jade,bronze, bamboo and porcelain for pillows, which were shaped like ordecorated with pictures of animals, plants, humans or even geometricfigures, according to chinaculture.org.

Hard pillows were preferred on the theory that soft substancesrobbed the body of vitality and were bad for everything from bloodcirculation to keeping demons away.

The rich and powerful in ancient Greece and Rome used softersubstances including straw, reeds and feathered down. Embroideredpillows and cushions became fashionable in medieval Europe, wherethey are found in illuminated manuscripts, according to CherieFehrman, author of “A Brief History of the Pillow in Europe.”

By the 16th century, pillows were increasingly commonplace,although the stuffing had to be regularly changed and the cases washedbecause of mold or vermin. Pillows were by then also taken to kneel onin church, while Bibles were often placed on their very own pillows.Much of today’s bedding was developed in the 19th century but notmass-produced until the 20th century.

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earthhad passed away, and the sea was no more. 2And I saw the holy city, newJerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adornedfor her husband. 3And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, thedwelling place1 of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be hispeople,2 and God himself will be with them as their God.3 4 hHe will wipe awayevery tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there bemourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passedaway.”5And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I lam making all thingsnew.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” 6And he said to me, n“It is done! oI am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginningand the end. pTo the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life withoutpayment. 7 qThe one who conquers will have this heritage, and rI will be his Godand she will be my son. 8 tBut as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, asfor murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, theirportion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the seconddeath.”

9 Then came one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the sevenlast plagues and spoke to me, saying, “Come, I will show you the Bride, the wife ofthe Lamb.” 10And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great, high mountain, andshowed me the holy city Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God, 11having the glory of God, its radiance like a most rare jewel, like a jasper, clear ascrystal. 12 It had a great, high wall, with twelve gates, and at the gates twelveangels, and on the gates the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel wereinscribed—13 on the east three gates, on the north three gates, on the south threegates, and on the west three gates. 14And the wall of the city had twelvefoundations, and hon them were the twelve names of the twelve apostles of theLamb.

15And the one who spoke with me had a measuring rod of gold to measure thecity and its gates and walls. 16 The city lies foursquare, its length the same as itswidth. And he measured the city with his rod, 12,000 stadia.4 Its length andwidth and height are equal. 17He also measured its wall, 144 cubits5 by humanmeasurement, which is also an angel's measurement. 18 The wall was built ofjasper, while the city was pure gold, like clear glass. 19 mThe foundations of thewall of the city were adorned with every kind of jewel. The first was jasper, thesecond sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald, 20 the fifth onyx, the sixthcarnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenthchrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, the twelfth amethyst. 21And the twelve gateswere twelve pearls, each of the gates made of a single pearl, and the street of thecity was pure gold, like transparent glass.
