Coggins and Vaccination Recordso You are required to fax in a copy of your COGGINS

AND VACCINATION RECORDS for each horse that you bring (Florida Residents included). Coggins papers are valid for one year in Florida. Fax your copies in as soon as you can while still having them valid. The following is a list of required and recommended vac-cinations.

REQUIRED:o Rhinopneumonitis/Influenza*o Nasal Strangles (Fort Dodge) Pinnacle*o West Nile (Initial vaccinations 6–8 weeks apart with a

booster no less than one month before arrival. Recommended: Continual 4 months booster)

*6–8 weeks prior to your arrival at the Parelli Center or at your regular scheduled time.

OPTIONAL: You may choose NOT to vaccinate your horse with the required recommendations. If you do, the enclosed Refusal to Vaccinate Release form MUST becompleted, signed and returned along with the coggins. Horse Health Certificateso You must bring a current HEALTH CERTIFICATE for

the horse that will be traveling with you (Florida Residents included). It should contain the Coggins info, temperature, and a description of the horse. It is helpful, but not required, to also fax the health certifi-cate ahead of time. Please keep in mind the certificate MUST be current within 30 days of the check-in date.

Two-week students: Please consider obtaining your health certificate within a week of leaving home so that is will be valid for entering AND leaving the state. We will help arrange for health certificates to be reissued by a local vet for any student staying for four weeks or longer.

Medical History/Emergency Contacto You are required to have medical insurance and to fax

in proof of this as soon as possible. You have to have health insurance coverage in order to step foot on the property!! Also, we need you to provide a name and phone number of who we may call in case of an emergency along with any medical considerations you may have. We have included a form for this information.

Agreement and Liability Releaseo We have a standard liability release form included in

this packet to be signed, witnessed, dated and faxed in to us as soon as possible.

PR Releaseo We have also included a separate form to be signed

and faxed back to us giving Parelli permission to use photographs of you for our Public Relations purposes.

You are free to take as many photos as you like! Please keep in mind that these photos are meant to be for your personal use only, not for commercial purposes or public viewing. You are not authorized to publish or display any photos taken of Pat, Linda, the staff, any one else or any-thing at the Parelli Center without written permission from Parelli Natural Horse•Man•Ship and the person (or people) in the photo. You have already signed agreement to this on your Parelli Center Application when you sent it in to the Parelli office headquarters. Please no video cameras.

(PPC) and/or Pat Parelli (hereinafter referred to as “the Parellis”), such Clinic to take place at the PPC located at 8695 Northwest 120th Street, Reddick, FL 32686.

As part of the application process to participate in such Clinic, the Parellis have recommended that I give my horse the following vac-cines: Rhinopneumonitis/Influenza, Nasal Strangles (Fort Dodge) Pinnacle, West Nile.

However, since the State of Colorado does not require these vaccines for entry into the state, the Parellis will waive the requirement for clinic participants to have them provided this additional release and indemnification is properly executed.

Early ArrivalFacilities will not be ready for you or your horse until

your official arrival day. If you would like to arrive early, please refer to parelli.com for facilities. Click on Take a Course, then Accommodations and look under Overnight Horse Boarding. If you still need assistance, call our office at 800-642-5335.

Check-In9AM-12PM the first day of your course

Please follow the check-in signs. There will be a Check-In Team waiting for you. We will give you your pen assignment and check that all paperwork has been received.

PLEASE! Be here by 12:00PM unless unforeseen circum-stances arise. If you are unable to be here by 12:00PM we would appreciate a call at: 352-591-0749 so we will know when to expect you, the day of arrival.

Horses/TackWe will assist you in unloading all of your tack into the

Tack Room you have been assigned. You will also be as-signed a pen number for your horse and directed to the parking area. You will unload your horse and someone will help park your car or rig. Then you will walk your horse to the pens.

ParkingStudent parking is in the designated parking area only. No

motorized vehicles are allowed in the learning center areas at ANY time.

OrientationAfter you check-in and get settled, you will need to be in

the classroom at 1:00PM for orientation.

Check-OutFriday 2-5PM. Please ensure your horse pen is clean. Ask

the Customer Coordinator for any special requests or early check-outs. We cannot allow any horses to stay after 5PM on check-out day unless you are staying for the next course or the Parelli Games.

This is the basic nuts and bolts about what you will need while you are at the Pat Parelli Center. The Parelli Center is set up to improve your horsemanship, fitness, and savvy!

o Sunscreen and Chapstick – And lots of it!

o Cushion – For sitting on bleachers

o Hat and Sunglasses – For the glare and UV protection

o Flashlight – For getting around at night

o A Journal or Diary and plenty of Pens – You may want a pocket size one as well for taking notes in class while on horseback

o Rain Gear – Rubber boots, hat, and rain coat for riding and for walking if muddy

o Insect Repellent

o Plastic Water Bottle – For toting around with you

o Riding Clothes and layers of clothes – Whatever you usually ride in—jeans, jodhpurs, boots, long and short sleeve shirts, etc.

o Suitable footwear for riding – This would include shoes with flat soles and a heel. The Parelli program is very much about safety with horses and this is a simple requirement to make sure we succeed.

Take Care…During travel and transport, some horses become

stressed. This causes elevated levels of cortisol which are then retained in the body, depressing the immune system. The result… about 10 days to 2 weeks later, the horse comes down with respiratory problems: runny nose, low energy. It looks like the horse has contracted a cold but antibiotics seem to have little effect on the recovery.

Occasionally, we’ve observed this problem at the Parelli Center when students trailer their horses for several days. Not all in-coming horses get sick and the horses that are already here don’t get sick. It stands to reason that this could be the effect of stress rather than a contagion.

Solution!We use a product called APF (Advanced Protection

Formula), which has been tested for some years now with great results in reducing the effects of travel stress and im-mune suppression in horses. It originates from Russia where factory workers who constantly battled with respiratory problems (flu, colds, etc) found greater levels of immunity and a massive reduction in sickness after taking these unique herbs. The equine formula of APF has now been used in many different situations with great results. So much so, they are now feeding it to Olympic horses. Sold thru Parelli Collection.

Other Tips we recommend:• A regular vitamin/mineral supplement program for

your horse now to assist maintenance of the immune system before, during, and after your stay

• Start with a daily dose of APF for your horse 2–4 weeks prior to travel

The Florida Parelli Center has a central Dining Lodge that serves three meals a day (Monday – Friday), surrounded by the Enchanted Forrest Playground and the Social Courtyard. With windows in all directions you can observe savvy play while you dine. Coffee, tea, cold drinks and snacks are avail-able throughout the day as well as on the weekends.

We also have a Classroom, with a large screen TV, white boards and surround sound which provides the optimum indoor learning environment. The Mercantile is located just around the corner, providing Parelli equipment, clothing, educational material, and even trial saddles.

You will find indoor bathrooms located on either end of the Dining Lodge, accessible from the interior or exterior.

There is also a Student Media room, located in the main office building which provides access to Computers con-nected to the internet, free wireless internet connection as well as phone lines (local calls are free, long distance require a phone card).

For Your HorseThe entire campus is made up of 120 acres of riding facili-

ties including a 125’ x 250’ fenced arena, several round corrals (50’, 75’ and 100’) and two honeycombs (a honey comb is a structure in which four 50’ round pens are enclosed by a larger 180’ round pen). This is great for playing at Liberty, or riding Patterns. Plus there are two separate playgrounds-the Enchanted Forrest and the Hill Playground. They include challenge obstacles, jumps, ditches, trailers, ponds and creeks for water crossing, bridges, tire pedestals, cavalettis, and honey combs.

There are rows of 24’ x 24’ Priefert Panel pens where horses have their own safe space, but are still with the rest of the herd. Each pen is provided with a feed bucket, so there is no need to bring your own. We provide wheelbarrows and pickers for cleaning your horse’s pen as one of your daily responsibilities.

A communal tack room is provided where you will be given a saddle rack and hook for storing your equipment. Tack rooms are weather proof, electrically lit, with swinging barn doors that close tight, keeping critters out! Tack rooms however do not lock, so if you are concerned about valu-ables we suggest you keep them in your trailer.

Pat is very selective about what he chooses to feed his horses. Roughage of Pat’s choosing will be provided for feeding your hose during your stay with us. If you horse has special dietary needs, you are welcome to bring your own feed and store it on campus. We have a feed station near the tack rooms where extra supplements or feed can be kept. This area is covered on three sides but does not lock, so you’ll need to bring a weather proof/critter proof container.

We have a specific watering program at the Parelli Center. We highly recommend that you bring your horse water or take your horse TO water throughout the day rather than leaving water in the pen. This is to help you and your horse build a strong bond in a short amount of time and the differ-ence it makes is phenomenal! However, this program is up to you.

We also provide both fresh and molasses water for your horse. The molasses water is a natural electrolyte, mixed one part molasses to 80 parts water. This measures out to be about one cup of molasses per 5 gallon bucket. This helps your horse to stay hydrated, preventing colic, and improves overall digestion.

FoodYou will be provided with three meals

per day (Monday-Friday). Please notify the Parelli office if you have any special meal needs, such as vegetarian meals or food allergies. This will give us a bit of time to plan meals accordingly for you. Breakfast: 7AM–8AM; Lunch: 1PM–2PM; Dinner: 6:30PM–7:30PM Computer Station-Phones

We have a computer and e-mail station. There are phones for your use, which will require a phone card. You will be able to purchase these in the Mercantile. Wireless internet access is available in and around the lodge.

ShoeingPlease have your horse freshly trimmed

or shod before you arrive. We do not have a resident on-site farrier, so if your horse loses a shoe it will be up to a local farrier and his busy schedule as to when he will be able to assist you. Vet Services

We have a couple of excellent veterinar-ians in Ocala who are usually available for emergencies. Please see the Customer Coordinator or Faculty for assistance. Children and Guests

Other arrangements must be made for children under 18 to stay off site during all courses and events at the Parelli Center, including meal times.

Guests over 18 are welcome to eat with us and may pay $10 per meal to the chef. Guests are asked not to watch any of the class sessions.

The weeks basically run Mon.–Fri. with the weekend left open. During that week-end you may be given projects to work on, and we suggest that you take a break. We’ve discovered that obsessive students need to take a break to let information soak through and to give their horses time off! Bringing the Right Horse

Stallions: Please remember that you will need special written permission from Pat Parelli, in advance, if you want to bring a stallion to the Parelli Center. You also need to have passed your Level 3 before making the request.

If you are coming for a riding course, your horse needs to be ride-able. These courses are not suited to green horses. By “ride-able” we mean your horse must be started under saddle and have had at least 20 rides with a saddle on.

Dogs and Other PetsNo pets are allowed on the ranch. Please

make arrangements to board or leave your pets at home. Please do not pet Pat’s dogs. They are working dogs, and that’s a big no-no! Entertainment

While you are here, we ask that you keep newspapers, magazines, and radios to yourself, not in the lodge or common areas. We strive to create a totally focused environment for all the students and en-courage you to spend your time increasing your savvy by talking with other students and taking full advantage of the facilities.
