UNIFORMYOUR GUIDE

All students in Years 7-12 are required to wear the College uniform both at school and while travelling to and from the College.

We believe the uniform encourages students to take pride in the College and in themselves.

Wearing the uniform shows a commitment to being part of the Cornerstone Community and allows students to focus on their studies rather than their appearance.

A uniform worn correctly eliminates competition in what students wear and is the most economical way to outfit our students for College life.

There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave or free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Summer and Winter Uniform (Years 8-12)Summer formal may be worn during Term 1 and Term 4 and during the first two weeks of Term 2 and the last two weeks of Term 3, if the forecast is 25°C or above for Mt Barker on the previous night’s 6.00pm news.

Winter formal can be worn at any time during the year, however, the winter uniform is compulsory for all of Term 2 and Term 3.

Summer uniform items are not to be worn with winter uniform and vice versa.

A white V-neck undershirt can also be worn, concealed under the outer garment.

Excursions and Formal OccasionsFormal uniform is to be worn for all formal College occasions and excursions, including College jacket for Middle School students and College blazer for Senior School students.

Year 12 Commemorative JacketThe Year 12 Commemorative Jacket is an optional item which can be worn with formal uniform on regular school days. The College blazer remains the appropriate item for all formal events and excursions.

Knockout SportStudents participating in Knockout Sport must wear full sports uniform without additions.

Non-Uniform DaysStudents are required to dress in a manner comparable to the College uniform and not such that it draws particular attention to the student. Thongs, ugg boots, singlets and items which are determined to be too revealing or deemed as inappropriate for our community by the Pastoral Care Team are unacceptable.

Students are either to wear full casual or full uniform on non-uniform days.

Regardless of the clothing worn, all students must adhere to the full expectations including those for hair, make-up and jewellery.

Students with PE on a non-uniform day must be fully equipped with their College sports uniform.

House Polo Shirt (Years 7-12)Compulsory for House competition days. May be worn for PE lessons when the College polo shirt is being laundered.

College LogoMigration to the current College logo was completed at the end of 2017. All Cornerstone College uniform items are to feature the current logo.

Uniform Expectations

All uniform items are to be worn neatly as per the examples demonstrated in this booklet.

All bags are available from Fairley’s Shoex, Mount Barker and Stirling.

Make-UpIt is preferred that students do not wear make-up at the College. Students who choose to wear make-up may only wear light, natural coloured foundation and minimal mascara. Eyeliner, nail polish, acrylic nails and coloured lip cosmetics, for example, are not to be worn.

Hairstyles• Hair should be neat and able to be combed

• Hair should not be extreme in style or colour so as to draw attention to the student

• Hair should be off the face at all times

• Hair shoulder length or longer is to be completely tied back

• If using clips or hair ties, they must be hair coloured or navy, ribbons navy or white, and scrunchies navy only

• Students are to be clean shaven

JewelleryStudents may wear:• a watch of reasonable size and appearance

• a plain light chain or a light chain with a small cross, around their neck

• a maximum of one earring, in the lower lobe of each ear;

• Studs (max. 6mm diameter) matching plain silver or gold, clear diamante or white pearl earrings

• Sleeper (max. 12mm diameter) matching plain silver or gold sleeper earrings

It is our preference that students do not wear facial piercings at the College.

Students with a nose or ear cartilage piercing, may wear a clear insert until healed and the insert can be removed.

Chains with any emblems or items other than a cross are not permitted, nor are any rings, bangles or bracelets or adornments of different material.

Year 7 students wear their College sports uniform all year.

Years 8-9 may wear their sports uniform to and from the College on the days they have PE. The College jacket is compulsory to and from the College in Term 2 and Term 3 and for excursions and formal occasions.

Years 10-12 are expected to change into and out of their sports uniform for their PE lessons.

The Second Hand Uniform Shop

The Second Hand Uniform Shop is located on the College campus near EFM gym. Most items are sold on consignment for parents, and the profit supports student programs within the College.

Good quality second hand clothing items are available for purchase.
