FAQS COLLEGE UNIFORM | May 2017

Frequently Asked Questions College Uniform 1. How does the cost of LVC’s uniform compare

to other local secondary schools? As a price comparison exercise, the College has researched the total uniform costs of three local secondary schools. The table below presents our findings.

School Total Cost* (including PE kit)

A £175**

B £250

C £285

LVC £215

Average Spend £231.25

*Total costs have been calculated on the following volume of items: 1 blazer 3 tops/blouses/shirts 2 jumpers 2 pairs of trousers 1 skirt ** Uniform A does not include a blazer

2. Will SWI be the only supplier that uniform

can be purchased from? No. The College wishes to work with parents/carers to ensure that overall uniform costs are affordable to all families. The College will provide links to two, alternative suppliers (one will be a high street store and the other will be a supermarket). The product codes of specific items will be given to parents/carers to ensure that only these items are purchased furthermore this will provide consistency across the College. Please note that no other items will be acceptable from September 2017 unless the student is in Year 11.

3. What are the expectations of Year 11

students from September 2017 onwards? Parents/carers of students in Year 11 are not expected to purchase new items for September 2017. However, the College does expect students to meet uniform

expectations. This will be further highlighted to parents/carers during the summer term.

4. Can uniform be delivered to the College? Yes. It is important to note that parents/carers must ensure that the correct child’s name is used on the SWI website, for example not a child who has left the College. If ordering for more than one child, orders will be delivered to the eldest sibling.

5. Is there a sizing chart? Yes. This is available on the SWI website on the tab across the top with the Girls, Boys and Accessories options.

6. Do you have any of the new standard items at the College for my child to try on? The College will open some “pop-up” uniform shops during the summer term to allow students to try on items. Dates and times will be published shortly. Please note that items will not be able to be purchased at these shops.

7. What if the new standard items do not fit my child? SWI allow items to be returned as with any other online purchase. Please see their website for terms and conditions.

8. What if I cannot afford to purchase the new standard items? Please contact Amanda Clay ([email protected]) directly to discuss your circumstances. The College reassures parents/carers that each case will be discussed both confidentially and sensitively.

9. How will students be informed of the uniform changes? Students will be informed through assemblies and tutor time. They will also be given opportunities to ask questions to clarify expectation.

10. Is there any second hand uniform that can

be purchased from the College? The College does not have a second hand uniform shop but at the end of the academic year, unclaimed lost property will be available for a voluntary contribution. Please note that items will be in good condition and washed. More details will be circulated towards the end of term.
