Flu Clinic 12/4/18 Flu season is here again! On Tuesday, December 4th, we are bringing a clinic to IDEA South Flores for our staff, scholars, and families. The clinic will be open from 1-5pm in the front office. Stop by to make sure your family is ready for the flu season to receive the flu shot; this is optional. Only insurance cards can be accepted, no cash or credit.

Get yours before they're gone!Hooty’s Attendance Tracking UpdateEach day that an entire homeroom of scholars is present at school, the homeroom earns a point towards special rewards. Congratulations to: Bravery for earning the 1st incentive – free shoe day. Congratulations to: Balance, Courage, & Roberta Gonzales’s class for earning the 2nd incentive – scholars can wear jeans, uniform shirt, belt and black shoes. Congratulations to: Proud, Communication, & Emily Garza’s class for earning the 3rd incentive – scholars have free dress day and popsicles. Update: New Process for Doctor’s Notes or Excused AbsencesEffective immediately: if your scholar is absent, text a picture of the excuse note to 512-943-2195 for grades PK-5 th and to 903-224-5108 for grades 6th-11th. If you are unable to text a picture of the excuse note, you as the parent must stop by the front office and Ms. Anna Martinez will accept your excuse. Please do not send excuses with your scholars. We want to ensure that we document excused notes properly and have noticed that when they’re sent with scholars, the notes get easily lost and are not documented properly.
Can I avoid an absence if I take my scholar to the doctor? YES! BUT…If your scholar attends school but goes home sick during homeroom and you take to them to the doctor, please submit a doctor’s note the next day. That is called a medical excuse and

BUT…If your scholar wakes up sick, take them to the doctor and bring them in after lunch when (s)he is feeling better, please submit a doctor’s note ASAP. That is called a medical excuse, and (s)he can get credit for the whole day regardless what time (s)he shows up. It must be the same day.What if my scholar stays home sick and I bring a doctor’s note the next day? NO!Your scholar will be marked absent with an excuse (parent notes are unexcused absences).
