Work Procedures & Control Measures1. Before starting any stapling task you must ensure the

correct PPE is being worn. This is company policy and should consist of a pair Safety Glasses and Ear Protection.

2. Ensure you have the correct equipment to start your task.A staple gun and airline will be required. Place a drop of gun oil in lower part of the staple gun were the airline connects

3. When connecting your airline to the staple gun ensure the staple gun is facing away from you and your fingers are away from the trigger to avoid any misfire.

4. Once connected to the airline your staple gun is ready to use. The staple gun has a number of safety features and will not fire unless the front safety catch and trigger are pressed at the same time. Ensure your hands are a safe distance away from the place you are about to staple.

5. When stapling parts on the frame ensure your hands are a safe distance away from the staple gun but also ensuring the item to be stapled is held firmly in place. Please see the attached photo’s for guidance.

This is incorrect!! Too close!!!!

7. Disconnect the airline whenever the staple gun is not in use and when refilling the staple gun with staples.

8. Once disconnected from the airline pull the lever on the staple cassette down to the bottom until it clicks and stays at the bottom.Proceed with filling the cassette with staples and then release the lever to hold the staples in tightly. Once this is in place you can then reattach the airline remembering to face the gun away and towards the table.

Welfare Provision:

Canteen with eating and drinking facilities is provided for all staff. Male and female toilets on site.

Schedule of PPE:

Hearing protection, Eye protection, and Protective footwear must be worn whilst carrying out this task.

Emergency Procedures:

Copies of the companies emergency procedures are posted by all fire exits, this is also discussed with all employees during their induction.
