SURE Ride
Welcome Event!
Complex Safety
The UT Police Department (UTPD) is focusing on implementing additional traffic enforcement inthe complexes during the next several weeks while patrolling our areas. This includes monitoring forvehicle moving violations and issuing tickets to violators who are not abiding by road signs. These specific efforts are in response to residents sharing their concerns about vehicles speeding inthe complex, not fully stopping at stop signs, or driving the wrong way on one way streets near theApartments office (Jasper & Lufkin).
Resident safety is our priority, and we want toremind all residents and guests to abide by roadsigns, including: • Speed limit signs (15 MPH) • One-way street signs • Stop signs • Do not enter signs
Bicycle Reminders
Driving
• Bicyclists ride with the flow of traffic; • Bicyclists must obey traffic signs, including stop signs;
• All bikes in the complex are required to have a University Apartments bicycle tag with the owner's apartment number
listed. To get a free tag, contact the Apartments team. • Use a U-lock and a separate self-locking cable. Lock theframe and front tire to the bike rack using the U-lock. Then,
use the secondary cable to connect the back tire to theframe.
UT students should also register their bicycle with UT's Parking and Transportation Services. Registering your bike with PTSadds your bicycle's serial number to a database, making it easier to recover if it is stolen. Learn more about registering your
vehicle with PTS here: parking.utexas.edu/bike/registration

CA Bio: Khalid
Hello University Apartments! My name is Khalid Osman. I am one of the Community Advisors (CAs) in the Colorado
Apartment Community.
I recently graduated from the Cockrell School of Engineering at UT with a Master’s in Civil
Engineering. I loved that journey so much that I decided to pursue my Ph.D. in Civil
Engineering. My primary focus is on Sustainable Systems Engineering.
I was born in Mombasa, Kenya, and arrived in the USA at the age of 2. I spent most of my
time growing up in Portland, Oregon. My favorite food to eat is my mother’s lasagna. I have
tried to imitate her recipe, but you just can’t mimic mother's hands. Overall though, I would
rather have a slice of cheesecake cake, a cookie, or some ice cream instead of “real food.”
I love traveling, learning about new
cultures, exploring new languages, and
most importantly - trying different foods
and desserts. When I’m not travelling, I
love watching and participating in sports –
I am a HUGE Los Angeles Lakers fan. If
you are too, lets watch the games
together!
I am ecstatic about the opportunity to
engage with the University Apartments
community! I am always approachable, so
please feel free to stop me in my tracks
for any questions or quick
conversations!
