Prescott, Mrs. Simpson and Mrs. Volkov were always available on a moment’s notice to do whatever was nec-essary.

I cannot begin to thank Mrs. Bernstein enough for her support and availability to help whenever and how-ever needed.

Every week without fail, our newsletter, Reflections, was sent to you under the auspices of Mrs. Krebs-Weller-stein and Mrs. Krawitz. With their deft abilities, they were able to bring the spirit of our school into your homes.

Therefore, it is with tremendous hakoras hatov that I acknowledge the herculean efforts of our administrative staff to disseminate information on a timely basis.

To my dear parents: I do not exaggerate when I say, that without your partnership, your encouragement, and your understanding we would not have been able to have accomplished all that we did.

In my mind’s eye, I picture mothers and fathers weaving their way among their children making sure they are “tuned in” to their classes; I picture mothers prepar-ing healthy meals and snacks throughout the day. (I also picture the children saying “Ma, there’s nothing to eat!). You juggled and caught the balls. Even when some may have slipped, you graciously picked them up.

The fruits of everyone’s labors have yielded acb-dus, school spirit, and a camaraderie that brought us all comfort. You chose to unite with the school, and “YOU” became an imperturbable “WE”. Together WE achieved growth, learning, and a new understanding of our chil-dren’s abilities and vulnerabilities, and we gained a new level of respect for one another.

Every time I thought I might be losing my footing, someone was always there offering me an aron of sup-port. Your suggestions and recommendations enabled us to create an infrastructure, (not permanent, G-d willing), for constructive and productive Chinuch.

Dearest Parents and Friends,

“We have arrived at our destination”, the last week of school¬. It was not an easy journey, but we made it. TOGETHER!

During the past several months I have shared with you my thoughts, my feelings, and, yes, my sadness. I will admit it to you now that when the official word came down that Friday after Purim, I burst into tears. I just could not believe or accept that our school was closed. The children, teachers, and administration left, and there were more questions than answers. Three months later and we still have more questions than answers.

Retrospectively, I have learned many new things; I have made leaps off of cliffs not knowing whether I would make a soft landing or hard landing. Truth be told, I experienced a combination of both. Some days were supremely challenging, and others built up my confidence.

There is, however, a lesson that I have learned all my life but has been reinforced exponentially during this time; it is the lesson of gratitude and appreciation.

Gratitude and appreciation are the two constants that have anchored me.

It is my pleasure, now, to express my profound hakos to those who embraced the challenges and turned them into triumphs.

First and foremost, I must thank the Ribino Shel Olam for His abundant chesed in giving us the oppor-tunities for our growth in Torah Chinuch despite the change in venue. The Torah was given in the desert, for away from a classroom, and 3300 years later we are proving this is an eternal truth. Torah can be taught and learned anywhere. You just have to have desire.

Every member of the Politz Hebrew Academy Family was a vital force, but after this time I would like to acknowledge the indefatigable efforts of three people without whom there would have been chaos.

Mr. Josh Okinine stepped in when I felt that I would have to step out. Very early on, Mr. Okinine set us up with Zoom accounts, ensured safety protocols were in place and for three months patiently endured our (read: “my”) questions of the most basic type. There are no sufficient words to thank him for setting up our “Zoom School” and never abandoning us.

Mrs. Dahlia Ocken – In her very quiet and genteel way, Mrs. Ocken recognized very quickly that I needed help in creating schedules and presenting our children with novel ways to spend “downtime”. Each week she constructed easy to follow schedules with all the nec-essary information to connect our children to “Zoom School”. I sincerely hope she knows how grateful I am for her dedicated efforts, for she will never acknowledge her amazing contributions.

Mrs. Chavi Schwarzbaum rescued everyone from the deluge of emails that kept pouring into everyone’s computer. She casually mentioned to me that if I would like her to help, she would organize homework and emails and consolidate them. She offered her help so non-chalantly, that I had no understanding of the amount of time that she would have to expend. I know I speak on behalf everyone, when I say “Thank you, Mrs. Schwarzbaum, you helped us with an S.O.S; You saved our Sanity.

The Esteemed Rebbeim, Moros and Teacher:My pen cannot write as fast as my mind is racing.

So may thoughts are colliding with one another. Devo-tion, dedication, supreme loyalty, teaching and reaching every child were their daily hallmarks. Transitioning from the classroom to technology was daunting at first, but with determination and perseverance everyone created a warm environment as best as they could.

Individual projects lovingly created by the Moros and Rebbeim for each student to pick up became a com-mon practice. Try to picture a project created with 12 or 13 parts for twenty-plus students. How did they do it? Innovative packets reinforcing skills across the curricu-lum were designed by all the teachers. Their only goal was to have children learn as much as they could. Only one word can describe the driving force: Love – love for teaching, love for student, and above all, love for a school where Torah values reign supreme.

To our Rebbeim, Moras and Teachers: You gave the best of yourselves, and we are so

fortunate that you did. Please know that the two words “Thank you” are filled with volumes of admiration and appreciation.

To my Talmidim and Talmedos: Please see the special letter that I wrote to you.

To all of you: Thank you for opening your hearts and letting us in. May we share only good news! Have a safe and healthy summer.

Good Shabbos,

My Dearest Talmidim and Talmidos,

Here we are! It is the end of the year, and what an ending it is! When we entered school in September, we had no idea that we would “go to school” from home for three months.

The beginning was not easy for any of us. We tried and tried until we found a system that worked. Many of you helped to design the system, but all of you made it work! I watched you day after day coming on to your classes, navigating your devices, and adjusting to a whole new system of learning.

Along the way, there have been many disappointments. Expectations were not met and excitement for what was to be evaporated. I felt your disappointment, but at the same time, I felt pride. You knew all this has been the will of Hashem, and you have accepted it as best as you can.

Please know, my wonderful Talmidim and Talmidos, IY”H you will have many opportunities to embrace and many new goals to achieve. You will see that these past few months have made you stronger and able to handle challenges that you never encountered before.

In conclusion, I am supremely proud of all of you! I do not know yet what the new school year will bring, but as long as it brings you, it will be great!

Have a wonderful summer,

Fondly,

Mrs. Katz

EITC FOR BUSINESSES AND INDIVIDUALS A huge opportunity has just become available for both Business and Individual tax liabilities. Additional funds are available for individuals and, a Business can now participate through the Special Purpose Entities. By businesses participating this way, they do not go through the lottery as in the past!

✓ You can RE-DIRECT your PA tax liability to fund scholarships for Politz Hebrew Academy!

✓ The Educational Improvement Tax Credit program is a unique program of the Pennsylvania Commonwealth.

✓ Participants receive a 90% PA tax credit for participating and you also may be able to take the remaining 10% as a charitable deduction.

✓ Politz Hebrew Academy will receive 100% of the amount you contribute for scholarships to benefit students who are income-qualifying. Since over 90% of our kids need scholarships, this program is critical.

Example:

If you or your Business have a $10,000 PA tax liability, you will receive a $9,000 PA State tax credit and, you also may be able to take the remaining $1,000 as a charitable deduction. Your out-of-pocket cost for giving Politz $10,000 in scholarship dollars will be only about $600 (depending on your tax bracket).

This is an incredible way to leverage a donation to support our students.

The minimum contribution for an individual is $6,200 so you must have at least this much in PA State tax liability.

If you would like more information, I will put you in touch with Gwen Horowitz. She runs the Special Purpose Entities that facilitate participation by individuals. Your business can now also participate through these entities. You can email her at [email protected].

Please let me know of your interest.
