HOLY FATHER’S PRAYER INTENTION FOR DECEMBER: The Future of the Very Young

That every country determine to take the necessary measures to make the future of the very young, especially those who suffer, a priority.

00

FATHER LEDOUX’S PRAYER INTENTIONS FOR DECEMBER WORSHIP: As we begin a New Liturgical year, may the Holy Spirit deepen our desire to pray each day with intention for God’s will in our lives. FAITH FORMATION: May the Season of Advent be for parents (and their children) a time of anticipation and spiritual preparation of the heart and mind for the celebration of Jesus Christ's coming on Christmas Day. EVANGELIZATION: That others will be able to experience Jesus in us, may we cleanse our hearts from sin in Confession, so Christ may find no obstacle to dwelling within us.

SOCIAL JUSTICE: As we reflect on our blessings this Advent, may they be cause for praise and gratitude to God and lead us to act upon the needs of the poor, refugee, abandoned, imprisoned and disregarded. 'Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.' BUILDINGS AND FACILITIES: That we will begin this New Liturgical year with increased generosity of our time, talent and treasure to God

here at St. Peter, where we are called to build His Kingdom.

THE HOLY SEASON OF ADVENT

"Advent’s intention is to awaken the most profound and basic emotional memory within us, namely, the memory of the God who became a child. This is a healing memory; it brings hope."

CHRISTMAS NOVENA PRAYER

Began December 17th

From Bethlehem comes the light that illumines the world. Let us pray to Him in union with Mary, who, like the moon, reflects all His light and love to us: COME, LORD JESUS!

LIGHT OF THE WORLD, enclosed in the darkness of Mary’s womb, shine through the ministers of Your Church, that those who sit in the darkness of sin and unbelief may be drawn to You.

SUN OF JUSTICE, shrouded in humble humanity, enlighten all who serve in government, that they will labor for a humane, just and peaceful world.

IMMENSITY OF LIGHT, diminished to the littleness of a tiny babe, protect the unborn, and bless all families and their children.

SPLENDOR OF THE FATHER’S GLORY, who condescended to be hidden under the swaddling bands of infancy, enfold in the tenderness of Your mercy all who struggle or suffer in any way.

DAYSTAR, whose brightness never fades, lead many young persons to follow You in the priesthood and consecrated life.

RADIANCE OF GOD’S POWER, veiled in the weakness of human flesh, lighten our lives with Your shining by answering the prayers we place before You (mention your intentions). Amen.

Merry Christmas

THE CHRISTMAS SEASON Christmas is more than a day - it is a season lasting until the Feast of Jesus’ Baptism, January 12th. Use these days to continue to show your joy of Jesus’ Birth by continued prayer, celebrations and visits to the lonely and ill.

BLESSING FOR THE CHRISTMAS CRIB

A Blessing Prayer for When Baby Jesus Is Placed in the Manger…

O God of every nation: From the very beginning of creation You have made manifest Your love: When our need for a Savior was great, You sent Your Son to be born of the Virgin Mary. To our lives He brings joy and peace, justice, mercy and love. Lord, bless all

who look upon this manger; may it remind us of the humble birth of Jesus, and raise up our thought to Him, who is our Emmanuel and Savior of all, Who lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen.

FEAST OF THE HOLY FAMILY OF JESUS, MARY & JOSEPH

Sunday, December 29th

Scripture tells us practically nothing about the first years and the boyhood of the Child Jesus. All we know are the facts of the

sojourn in Egypt, the return to Nazareth, and the incidents that occurred when the twelve-year-old boy accompanied his parents to Jerusalem. In her liturgy the Church hurries over this period of Christ's life with equal brevity. The general breakdown of the family, however, at the end of the past century and at the beginning of our own, prompted the popes, especially the far-sighted Leo XIII, to promote the observance of this feast with the hope that it might instill into Christian families something of the faithful love and the devoted attachment that characterize the family of Nazareth. The primary purpose of the Church in instituting and promoting this feast is to present the Holy Family as the model and exemplar of all Christian families.

CHRIST CANDLE OF HOPE PRAYER

Prayer for the Twelve Days of Christmas

God, our loving Father, You sent Your Son, Jesus Christ, into this world to counter all the forces of evil: sin, suffering and death, and to overcome evil with the force of good; hatred with the power of love, Your great love for us in Jesus.

Help us never to curse the darkness, but to join with You in bringing Your light into this world, the light that is Your Son, born of the Virgin Mary, in Bethlehem. Help us to be instruments of Your light and love by doing one special act of kindness or by being Your special instrument of reconciliation this New Year.

May the Christ Candle we light symbolize our desire to bring light into a world of darkness and hope into a world of despair.

We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

SIGN UP TO SPIRITUALLY ADOPT A BABY TODAY! Adoption Cards Available at the Doors of the Church

Pick up an adoption card at the doors of the church and begin praying daily to save the life of an unborn baby.

To help save the life of an unborn baby, it is recommended an individual say the following daily prayer for a period of nine months.

“Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I love you very much. I beg you to spare the life of [baby’s name] the unborn baby that I have spiritually adopted who is in danger of abortion.”

~ Prayer of Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen

Your Spiritually Adopted Baby’s Development

All systems are a go — or nearly there — inside the growing baby. The lungs are breathing in amniotic fluid. Blood is pumping around the circulatory system. The kidneys are filtering urine. The baby's looks are changing, as hair,

eyebrows, and eyelashes grow in.

PRO-LIFE REFLECTIONS

He did not spare His own Son… How then can He fail also to give us everything else…? ~Ps 72:2

REFLECTION: The song “Grown-up Christmas List” speaks of a list for a world in need. This list includes, “no more lives torn apart, that wars may

never start…that right would always win.” Christmas is a time for wishing boldly for good things. Let us write our Christmas list with confidence.

PRAYER: Father, increase our longing that every life may be safe from the violence of abortion and euthanasia, and from the ravages of poverty, crime, and war.

DIVINE MERCY MESSAGE - “JESUS, I TRUST IN YOU” St. Faustina: “December 23, [1936]. I am spending this time with the Mother of God and preparing myself for the solemn moment of the coming of the Lord Jesus. The Mother of God is instructing me in the interior life of the soul with Jesus, especially in Holy Communion. It is only in eternity that we shall know the great mystery effected in us by Holy Communion. O most precious moments of my life!” (Diary 840)

CONTINUE YOUR LEGACY OF GIVING- MAKE A FOREVER GIFT

TO ST. PETER CATHOLIC CHURCH Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. ~ 2 Cor 9:7

Good intentions are important, especially when it comes to giving. And a planned gift – a gift you designate to start after your lifetime – can have long-term impact. One way to accomplish this is through a bequest, a gift from your estate, in the form of a transfer of cash, securities, or other property made through your estate plans. You could also designate St. Peter Catholic Church as a beneficiary of your retirement account or life insurance policy. Recently, you and others like you, provided the needed pledges for St. Peter’s to undertake the necessary repairs & improvements to our church, Adoration Chapel, parish hall, cemetery & campus drainage. These improvements & repairs have built upon what was generously left to us by our ancestors, provided for the needs of our present parishioners, and preserved our facilities for future generations of Catholics. You can continue your legacy of giving through a planned gift to St. Peter Catholic Church. Some of the advantages of a planned gift include: ▪ A bequest costs nothing now yet gives you the satisfaction of

knowing you have provided for St. Peter’s in the future. ▪ You retain control and use of our assets during your lifetime. ▪ You may modify your bequest if your circumstances change. ▪ Gifts to St. Peter’s from your estate are exempt from federal

estate taxes. ▪ If you let us know of your plans, we will be able to thank you now

and recognize you as part of our Capital Campaign effort.

For additional information, please contact Cindy at the parish office.

THANK YOU FOR BLESSING ST. PETER’S WITH YOUR GENEROSITY!

A STEWARDSHIP MOMENT FOURTH SUNDAY OF ADVENT

In today’s Gospel we hear of the coming of Emmanuel, which means “God is with us.” We celebrate three Advents: the birth of Christ, His Second Coming, and His presence in the world today. Our daily lives are attended by God’s presence. Indeed, “God is with us.” The Good News of Christ’s Incarnation is that we are the sign, the “sacrament,” of Christ’s presence in the world. People are supposed to see us, see how we love one another, see how we treat the stranger among us, see how we give comfort to the poor and afflicted, and share the Good News with joy. They see how good stewards are the light of Christ. And there can be no possible response except to say: “God is here!”
