An exponent is a number that show how many times a base is used as a factor.
7⁴ = 7*7*7*77⁴=2401
When a number is squared-that means the base is used as a factor 2 times
When a number is cubed – that means the base is used as a factor 3 times
Sometimes exponents are written in word form.
4⁵ is written as four to the power of five
