Project Presentation

TitleIncreasing the resilience of the most vulnerable groups to natural disasters in Indonesia

Principal objective To increase resilience and reduce vulnerability in local communities and institutions through sustainable mechanisms that enable most vulnerable groups to better prepare for, mitigate and respond to natural disasters

Specific ObjectiveTo strengthen the disaster resilience of most vulnerable groups (women, children and persons with disabilities) in NTT province by transferring knowledge and skills for effective Inclusive CBDRR programs to local actors

Project Presentation

The ResultLocal institutions in NTT are responsive to address the rights of most vulnerable groups into annual programs and budget 3 district annual plans and 2 sectoral plans allocate a minimum of 0.25 % of their budget for DRR actions including specific programs on inclusive DRR.

Advocating Inclusive approach into CBDRR actions to include selected schools and communitiesAll CBDRR plans in 9 villages and 9 schools include and implement

Inclusive DRR is advocated at country levelModels, tools and resources for inclusive DRR endorsed by BNPB and disseminated at Provincial and Nasional Level also to NDMO in Timor Leste

What is inclusion?

• Invite participation as well as recognize and accept each individual whatever his difference

• Provide specific support as needed so that everyone is able to participate and contribute

• Appreciate and utilize the participation and contribution of each individual whatever his difference

Inclusive DRR is an effort to minimize the impact of hazards by considering all possible VULNERABILITIES (age, education, gender, disability …) and ensuring participation of all groups

2. Peer review of the current Annual Plan and budget of government agency with stakeholders (local authorities, CSOs)

3. Comparison of draft Annual Plan and budget with Inclusive DRR Guiding Questions (based on HFA action plans and indicators)

4. Capacity building for VFP (Vulnerability Vocal Person) to be an Inclusive DRR agent in Government agency

5. Coordination and assistance for VFP in the annual planning and budgeting process
