Pacing• The pacing of the scene is slow in the first half of the scene, as the director

is trying to make the viewing audience acknowledge the relationships between the characters just before the car accident.

• The pacing at the second half of the scene is fast, as the time between each cut is really short. This is done to get a lot of information to the audience in a short amount of time.

• After this fast pacing, the last cut of the scene is really long, as the director wants the audience to soak in the information and to emphasize the effect of the death upon the audience.

Transitions• In this scene, the transition of a fade out is used, as the aerial view of the

car fades out into a black screen. This is used by the director so that the viewing audience can think about and acknowledge what has just happened. This is also done in order to emphasize the effect of the death of Sarah’s husband and daughter upon the audience.

Computer Generated Images• Computer generated images are used in this scene when the car has just

collided with the other car and the pipes have pierced through the windshield of the car, which have hit Sarah’s husband and daughter. The computer generated images are used to increase the amount of blood the car crash and death has produced. This is done by the director to increase and emphasize the effect of the death, by use of gore and increase of blood.
