2022 Qatari World Cup bid stand

The Qatari royal family commissioned Messerli to design a stand for the 2022 World Cup bid. This 3D Max rendering shows one of my concepts for the Qatar 2022 Word Cup bid stand. It was based on a reinterpretation of the traditional Arabic arch and makes use of several large central touch screens showing the different elements of the World Cup bid.

Flags with the World Cup bid graphics were incorporated into the stand, to allow it to be seen over its competitors. The flags surround the central touch screen unit.

2022 Qatari World Cup bid stand

The image above shows an alternative concept for Qatari World Cup bid. This concept was based on the Arabic dhow (small wooden fishing boat). The capital city of Qatar is on the coast and for many hundreds of years the main industries were fishing and trading. There is a central diamond shape made of darkened glass with touch screens behind, which allow the screen to be viewed when it’s on but remain invisible when it’s off. Qatar went on to win its bid and will be hosting the 2022 World Cup.

ESA trade fair

The 3D max rendering shows a concept exhibition stand that I did for ESA. They are a major distributor of tyres and other automotive parts to garages in Switzerland and some surrounding countries. The brief demanded a restaurant/ bar (top right) and a large product display area. A further image is shown below.

Swisscom streetside stand

These images show a series of three podiums for Swisscom, designed to be set up on the street to show off the latest mobile phones and deals. The brief was issued at 11:00am with concepts to be delivered at 4pm the same day. It was a client requirement that there be a budget option (see the bottom image)

Lumino - Final year major project

The Lumino is a self contained unit that fits into the internal frame of a Velux roof window. It uses solar cells on the outside of the blind slats to generate power which is stored in internal batteries, allowing it power ultra bright LEDs to light the room in the evening. The Lumino was my final year major project at Loughborough University.

A rendering used to show the product in its environment. The scene was modelled using 3D Max and Solidworks then rendered in Keyshot.

Lumino - Final year major project

After the initial shape of the blind slats had been decided on a number of concepts were sketched for aesthetic evaluation. These were rendered in Adobe Photoshop to add realism.

This is a sketch of the initial idea that went on to become the final design. It is a hand drawn sketch that has been rendered over in Adobe Photoshop.

Digital phrasebook

This is a design for a digital phrasebook to allow users to quickly find words in a foreign language and listen to them through headphones. It also contained a micro USB to allow new languages to be downloaded via a website. The project was part of a second year University assignment.

Cadillac Oil bottle

The brief for this project was to design an oil bottle that embodied the design language of the car brand that you were assigned. There were no cost constraints; it was purely a styling exercise.
