HAVE YOU EVER USED GOOGLE KEYWORD
PLANNER?
3
DID YOU KNOW THAT IT ONLY DISPLAYS 50% OF
THE KEYWORDS?
4
WAIT, WHAT? WHY CAN’T I SEE ALL THE KEYWORDS?
Today, we're living in a socially driven world. The way we communicate, the way we consume content
online has changed. Google has become number two. Social media is number one.
There are tons of new keywords emerging every day. Keyword planner apps are too slow to pick them up.
5LET’S SEE IT IN ACTION!

KEYWORD RESEARCH(THE „OLD” WAY)
VS
TOPICAL RESEARCH(THE NEW WAY)
81. SEED KEYWORD RESEARCH
Keyword research never started with the Keyword Planner. The first step is finding seed keywords. Seed keywords are search terms you put in keyword planner
apps to get more ideas of a topic. Recommended apps: seedkeywords.com or Google Forms
92. KEYWORD RESEARCH
Second step: Google Keyword Planner + Ubersuggest for more long-tail results.
Try to keep relevant long-tail keywords as it's easier to rank for them and they even convert better.
Keep an eye on negative keywords so you don’t get lost in the huge amount of data.
103. COMPETITOR RESEARCH
Keyword Effectiveness Index (KEI) = (search volume)^2 / competition
LongTailPro analyses the top Google results for each keyword and gives you back a so-called Keyword Competitiveness (KC) score between 1 and 100.
Depends on the timeframe you want to rank in, but as a general rule of thumb: keywords having 40 or lower KC's are relatively easy targets.
11WHAT IS TOPICAL RESEARCH?
Starting point: social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, Snapchat, etc)
Follow bloggers, news and fan sites that create content around a specific topic.
If you see something new popping up frequently, leave the Keyword Planner behind and create valuable content around it.
12CASE STUDY
Ryan Stewart drove 15,000 visits in 30 days to a brand new site using topical research.
He’s outranking DA 70+ sites (DA = Domain Authority).

BEFORE YOU DIG DEEP INTO KEYWORD/TOPICAL RESEARCH...
Neil Patel was asked what would he have done differently, if he was to start blogging again:
„Instead of one post a week I would have created more content.”
„I would have put out 4 or 5 a week. Or even 7 a week if possible.”

CREATE VALUABLE CONTENT CONSISTENTLY! THAT’S THE HARDEST PART.
Is there a content overload? Maybe in English, but in other languages? Not at all.
In March 2016, at a Google Q&A, Andrey Lipattsev – Search Quality Senior Strategist at Google said in regards of criticism towards their search algorithm:
„...in a lot of Eastern European markets there just isn’t enough content, as compared to the percentage of the internet population that those regions represent.”
