Capilano HRMA Hosts Networking Luncheon Milla Zaenker
On September 16, 2008 Capilano Human Resources Management Association (Capilano HRMA) hosted its first Advisory Committee Luncheon that brought together business students and HR professionals from private and public sectors.
Capilano BC HRMA is a student-driven organization for business students pursuing careers in HR. The Advisory Committee, comprised of
Human Resources industry professionals, was established to advise the Capilano HRMA executive team, to provide guidance to the student group's activities and to provide feedback on current HR
trends and issues that business students should be aware of.
During the luncheon, 30 business students had an opportunity to learn about HR trends and careers as well as network with the day's special guests, including:
Elizabeth Bonner - Manager Member Relations, BC HRMA Coastal Vancouver region; Ian Cook - Director, HR Knowledge & Research, BC HRMA; Rachel Zuckermann - HR Advisor, District of North Vancouver; Susan Ney - Director of Human Resources & Payroll Services, District of West Vancouver; Janet Burgess - HR Advisor, North Shore Credit Union; David Hannigan - HR Manager, Purdy's Chocolates; Barbara Ottley - HR Manager, Capilano University; Betti Clipsham - Director, HR for Target Products Ltd. In addition, business students and guests obtained information about the newly designated Capilano University and the HR Advanced Diploma Program from a presentation by Paul Dangerfield, the Dean of School of Business and instructors Kathryn Taft and Charlene Hill.
The Capilano HRMA executive team shared with the guests the achievements of last year as well as the future plans and directions for the student association. One of the main accomplishments

Elizabeth Bonner, BC HRMA member relations manager - Coastal Vancouver, presented Capilano University with a $1,000 annual scholarship that will be granted to a business student focusing on HR.
This event was an incredible and memorable experience for all business students and guests. Capilano HRMA executive team members - Sarah Hart, Milla Zaenker, Trina Parsad and Shannon Ash - would like to thank Capilano University administration, staff,
faculty and student volunteers; BC HRMA staff and volunteers; and the special guests for their incredible support!
