@50001SEAPs
The purpose of the ISO 50001 standard is to enable
organizations to establish the systems and process necessary to
improve energy performance, including energy efficiency, use
and consumption.
ISO implementation is intended to lead to CO2 emission
reduction and environmental impacts related to energy use
and consumption;
Applicable to all types and sizes of organization;
It does not establish absolute requirements for energy
performance.

ISO 50001 AND SEAPs: SAME PURPOSES, DIFFERENT
METHODOLOGIES
CO2 emission reduction and environmental impacts related to
energy use and consumption;
ISO 50001 applicable to all types and sizes of organization;
ISO 50001 It does not require specific improvements of the
energy performance “minimum targets”;
Otherwise SEAP “minimum targets” are defined: 20-20-20 +
(40%/2030 GHG reduction according with the new CoM)
SEAP applicable in a L.G. or groups of LGs (Joint SEAP option 1-
2). ISO 50001 in industry/Tertiary/Services etc.

ENERGY REVIEW
ISO 50001 par. 4.4.3: The organization shall develop, record, and
maintain an energy review. The methodology and criteria used to
develop the energy review shall be documented. To develop the energy
review, the organization shall:
Analyse energy use and energy consumption based on measurement and other data;
Based on the analysis of energy use and consumption, identify the area of significant
energy use (facilities, equipment, systems, process and personnel working for, or on
behalf of, the organization that significantly affect energy use consumption);
Identify other relevant variables affecting significant energy use (external temperatures
etc.);
Determine the current and the future energy use and consumption;
Identify, prioritize and record opportunities for improving energy performance.
