• 184 days, 125 business events to promote strength and breadth of the UK/China trade and investment relationship. Across all UKTI priority sectors

• Showcase what differentiates UK’s business partnership with China from other (150+) nations at Expo;

• Establish a strong platform for sustainable engagement after Expo. • Highlights:

+ programme of business conferences co-hosted with the Financial Times+ series of low carbon high growth events, with a focus on cross-sectoral activity+ focus on sustainable cities, collaboration from research to technology transfer, working with Whitehall partners + month-long series of events profiling the UK's financial and professional services sector; + activities profiling “the ethical edge”, UK plc’s commitment to CSR

• Business events will also be used to promote Chinese inward investment

Business on UK@Expo• As well as the events programme, the UK Expo website (launched

in November) gives us a further opportunity to: + promote individual UK@Expo events,

+ profile the UK’s Expo corporate sponsors, and + provide information in greater depth about UK business. • New Industry New Jobs (NINJ) funding being used to develop the

business sections of website into extensive knowledge bank about UK sectoral strengths, for further marketing use by UKTI globally.

• The business programme will take place mainly in Shanghai, but will also spin off across China.

• Taken together with the events being staged by the British Council, and the programme of FCO events which will support HMG’s wider strategic objectives in China, this extensive programme will provide a unique opportunity to engage across our interests with Chinese partners.
