Designing cubes in an orthogonal way to create the illusion of movement. The first design was created in clay.
Project 1 - Movement
The next design was re-imagined and created in chipboard.
The final project was built out of museum board. This project helped us work on our overall craft and ability to work with different materials.
This project required us to take squares and place them in an orthogonal way to create the illusion of defying gravity.
Project 2 – Defy Gravity
This project required us to encapsulate the ‘defying gravity’ project in a 1-inch thick box in order to show us the negative space around the mass. It was created out of blue insulation foam.
Project 3 – Negative Space
The next step of this project was to take away mass from the box in order to create a more aesthetically pleasing look. We placed a 2-inch gap between the pieces. Last, we were required to add lines and planes to the spaces to accentuate the design we had created.
