• IN ORDER TO GET A GOOD GRASP OF MY AUDIENCE I ASKED 30 PEOPLE OF VARYING AGES. 10 OF THEM WERE 20-30, 10 WERE 15-19 AND 10 WERE 30-40. THE ANSWERS THAT WILL HOLD MOST WEIGHT FOR ME ARE THOSE IN THE 20-30 BRACKET AS THIS IS THE LARGEST DEMOGRAPHIC FOR SCIENCE FICTION.

From this we can deduce that movie magazines don’t appear to be a regular subscription. Perhaps only bought when the movie is big enough or interesting enough to the readers. For this reason my movie poster will need to be intriguing. Certainly the uses and gratifications theory is evident here as it appears people choose when and what they want based on content.

From this it is clear that the most popular brand of movie magazine is that of- Empire. For this reason I will follow the conventions seen in this movie magazine for optimum audience encapsulation. Genre in this way is used to appeal to audience already established as movie fans.

Concept Actor Costume Appealing title

From this I can tell that the actor, concept and costume are equal to pull people into the movie. As I don’t have a famous actor I will focus on the concept and costume. In order to get the concept across part of the set will be used on the front cover.

From this I can see that most people when paying for a movie magazine pay 3.99 (the price of the Empire magazine from my research). While I would still have an audience if I charged more is it much less, the same can be said of putting the price any lower. There is no point in making less money than I could do on my magazine.
