How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
Evaluation Question 2 Kate Horn
Here you can see the image has been repeated from the front cover of the digipack on the advert, this is because we wanted to make a clear link between the texts, however we didn’t want it to be identical so therefore we made an edit and made the colours more nostalgic, and made the colours more vintage on the advert. It keeps a thematic consistency across the board, as within the video colour editing was really important to us, therefore highlight the colours of the sunset within this image was really key. Also the mise-en-scene within the image such as the props (telescope) are really important, as it adds to the vintage effect of the image. Across all the texts, the images are
similar, this makes sure they are memorable, and when the audience see the image they will remember the artist. For example, the character (young boy) who features primarily within the video is the face of the advert and digipack - as the video is mainly about him ageing from youth to teenage hood. Within this change and as you see within the music video, he begins a relationship with the young teenage girl, who then features on the back of the digipack within the collage with the boy, along with on the inside cover. This provides consistency.
The title text and artist text has stayed the same to provide consistency, and memorability.
Thematic Consistency
Images taken in places where they have both been, this photo was taken
in Paris - and within Photoshop we burnt the edges as if it had been
ripped. Similar to the video (see below) - both characters are in the same
place, representing foreshadowing.
I think signing it off from the artist makes it more personal
and links to his emotional side, much like in this photo -
connecting with the emotional side of the lyrics.
Links to the couple again, and the image we are trying to create - along with
including images and products from dates etc.
Here is Jack Garett, we thought we should include an image of him to link to of course the artist himself, and show the link between him and
the teenage boy and perhaps represent this is a link to his past
and make it more personal.
Constant features of the young boy, close-ups to show his
emotion, which also links to the song about growing up. We
represented the boy in such a way to perhaps link him to what the artist may have been link in
his youth, innocent and care free.
Artist Representation
Mise-en-scene
Here is a picture from the fire scene, this is why we used this for the CD template, as it links to
the video.
This shows an image from the date, which links to this
collage - as we’ve included polaroids and tickets from it
too.
Here is another image from their date, which links to this polaroid that was taken from this image.
This shows the character wearing similar clothing,
providing the link.
Fonts
This shows the connection between all the fonts, they are repeated throughout all the different texts. This keeps them memorable.
