RESEARCH PROBLEM

HYPOTHESIS
It is a tentative conclusion or answer to a specific question raised at the beginning of the investigation.
It is an educated guess about the answer to a specific question.

FORMS OF HYPOTHESIS
Operational- stated in the affirmative; positively stated.
Null- stated in the negative; negatively stated.
Cause and Effect- uses IF and THEN statement.
EXAMPLES
Stated Problem: Comparing the effects of fertilizer A and fertilizer B on the growth of okra plants.
ALTERNATIVE: Fertilizer A is more effective in terms of the average height per plant than fertilizer B. NULL: Fertilizer A is not as effective as fertilizer B in terms of the time of flowering per plant. C and E: If the average height per plant using fertilizer A is taller than using fertilizer B then fertilizer A is more effective.
SCIENCE INQUIRY
It refers to the diverse ways in which scientists study the natural world and propose explanations based on the evidence gathered.
It also refers to activities of students in which they develop knowledge and understanding of scientific ideas, as well as an understanding of how scientists study the natural world.
