Here’s the secret ...

You don’t have to be everywhere

Know Your Audience

• Who is most likely to read your book?

• Where do they hang out?

• Invite yourself into their world … but remember: It’s their world!

• Build relationships and let them work for you

Know Yourself

• Be honest with your posting

• Be open

• Be findable (name recognition)

Dos and Don’ts

• Do be respectful

• Do be a risk taker

• Do be honest

• Do respond timely

• Don’t create or get in the middle of drama

• Don’t be a constant promoter

• Don’t assume too much; remember, you might still be “stranger”

Social media

• Facebook, Twitter, Linked In, About.me, Pinterest, Amazon, Goodreads, Instagram, Vine, Blog

• Connect them together as much as possible

• Post smart, not more

• Play nicely

• Keep current on their policies and trends

– (4-6 week changes in algorithms of Facebook)

Facebook Pages, Groups and

Walls• Groups—people are added; only notified

when Friends post; personalize Facebook “wall”

• Pages—created and people like; gives stats and allows scheduling; can pay to promote; Very few viewings—hard to keep in front of your likers

• Wall—personal; can be as private or open as you wish; allows ease of commenting
