MEDIA AS PRODUCTION EVALUATION
My media product has used the usual forms and conventions by following typical magazine
templates/layouts in the front cover, contents page and double-page spread. I have also used a house style throughout the magazine to connect the pages and
produce a solid and well-structured magazine appearance.
IN WHAT WAYS DOES YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT USE, DEVELOP AND CHALLENGE FORMS AND
CONVENTIONS OF REAL MEDIA PRODUCTS?
My masthead follows conventions as it is placed at the top of the magazine front
cover which is a typical place for a masthead. The text is also bold so it is
noticeable and is not too complex. However the masthead is slightly tilted
upwards which is challenging conventions as most mastheads are straight. I decided to do this because my magazine is aimed
at a young audience and so they like a magazine which isn’t the same as the rest
so this is a good way to make it a little different to the normal magazine. The
reason they want a different magazine is because they are growing up and want to
feel like they are independent and are different so a magazine which can be an appealing as it is a little different seems like a bit of a rebellious magazine to buy.
MASTHEAD
As my magazine is of the pop genre but is a country edition I
have used props associated with the western culture. These
are props such as cowboy boots, classic guitars and a
cowboy hat. This is following conventions as it is following the typical props of the genre
however because my magazine is usually focused on the pop genre it challenges what the
readers would usually see on a pop magazine.
