Evaluation of
production
In what ways does your media product use, develop and challenge forms and conventions of
real media products?
• What I have done with this magazine is taken a genre of music that is usually aimed at a smaller audience and attempted to get it into the mainstream.
How does your media product represent particular social groups
• As my Magazine is aimed at two social groups it was difficult to represent them both.
• I added content that could appeal to both groups; For the older and educated it was a piece on family life and for the younger buyer it involved tour dates.
What kind of media institution might
distribute your media production and why • This magazine could be bought in stores
such as WHSmith. Also it would be ideal to be sold as part of Subscription.
• I think it would be a mistake to sell in news agents as the audiences are more likely to buy through these methods.
• Another way to buy would be online. However this would appeal more to the younger rather older buyer.
What would be the audience for your
media product? • I attempted to aim my music magazine at both
the well educated and older teens. This is because big band is usually associated with well educated and wealthy people.
• However with the recent success of singers such as Michael Buble, this genre of music has started to appeal to the younger audience.
How did you attract/address you’re your
audience
• In order for me to attract and address the audience I used an image that Is often associated with big band singers (open collar with black suite trousers and a tie).
•I have also used bright colours that stand out when on a shelf for sale.
What have you learnt about technologies from
the process of constructing this production?
I learnt a few things about technology throughout the production.
Firstly, I learnt how to improve my photography skills by setting up the shot.
Also I gain editing skills. These improved greatly throughout the production.
Look back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the
progression form it to the full product
• The one main thing I have learnt in the progress of the magazine is how important it is to plan all aspects of the production.
• Another aspect I have learnt is how important it is to spend time on the photography, on the preliminary task I used two photographs I already had and then used a background photo. On the main task I spent time and took more than one photo so I could choose and have an option.
