To figure out someone’s motive, we look at a few different things. Here are the clues (inferences) we can use to figure out motive:

Character’s Actions– what is this person doing? How are they acting?

Try it! What are 2 things that Chang did to get his mother’s wok back? Write it in your chart.

Try it! Use 3 adjectives to describe Chang from last week’s story. Write it in your chart.

Synonym: concede, cave in, surrender
