I will be able to use inferences to write the characters motive into a T-chart.

The motive is the reason why someone does something.
For example, what is your motive for doing your homework?

To figure out someones motive, we look at a few different things.Here are the clues (inferences) we can use to figure out motive:
5. Objective Character Motive
Characters Actions what is this person doing?How are they acting?
Try it!What are 2 things that Chang did to get his mothers wok back? Write it in your chart.

Characters Traits what is this person like?How would you describe them?
Try it!Use 3 adjectives to describe Chang from last weeks story.Write it in your chart.

There are a few other things you can look at to find the motive as well.
The characters thoughts.
The characters words.
Write one in your chart.

A PERSON WHO HAS HABITS OR OPINIONS THAT SEEM ODD TO OTHER PEOPLE
Synonyms: odd, irregular
Look at you partner and describe someone you may have meet who may looks eccentric.
11. RELENTED
A PERSON WHO HAS AGREED TO SOMETHING HE OR SHE ONCE REFUSED
Synonym: concede, cave in, surrender

Fine, Ill do it.
Tell your partner a time you relented to do something.
12. FAZE
BOTHER OR CONFUSE
Synonym: annoy, discomfort
Huh?
13. INFURIATED
TO FEEL EXTREMELY ANGRY
Synonym: mad, furious
Look at your partner and make a face of a furious person.
14. DISHEARTENED
FEEL DISAPPOINTED AND LESS HOPEFUL
Synonym: crushed, depressed
Why me?
Can you think of a time when you felt disheartened? Tell you partner about that time.
15. IMPASSABLE
A ROAD OR PATH THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO TRAVEL ON
Synonym: blocked, obstructed
16. CRUSADED
A PERSON WHO WORKED HARD TO MAKE A CHANGE BASED ON HIS/HER BELIEFS
Synonym: stand for, lobby
