FRANCIS turbineSpherical valve

Water outlet

Shaft

Oil pressurized piston

TURBINE converts the kinetic energy of flowing water to mechanical energy(to the rotor).

Turbine

Francis turbine is used

ROTOR

Carbon brushes

Cooling of rotor is by the pressurized oil

STATOR

Cooling of stator is by the water from the outlet of turbine, after filtration

OutputOUTPUT from the stator DEPENDS upon some FACTORS like :-

FREQUECY- depends upon the number of poles and speed of the rotor

ROTOR’S SPEED –depends upon the head of the DAM and flow rate of water

POWER FACTOR – It is the angle between current and voltage ,as P=VI COS

Hydroelectric dam

Generator

Step-up transformer

Grid high voltage transmission lines

Terminal Station

Sub transmission lines

Distribution substation

How it is used by the customer
