Dear Mr. Paulk,

In answer to your inquiry concerning NAS 410, I am confirming the following:

As the custodial organization for NAS 410, "Certification And Qualification OfNondestructive Test Personnoi", the AlA QualitY~.f\ssurance NOT Working Group has~determined that NOT personnel certified in accordance with U.S. Armed Services NOTquaiification programs, including AFSC 2A7X2, N88-NTSP-A-50-8518B/P, OPNAVINST4790,2H are considered equivalent to NAS 410.

A.II personnel certified to those programs shall be considered adequately trained and tohave sufficient experience to qualify for an employer-based certification to theappropriate level, subject to the documented approval of the Responsible Level 3.The employer is still responsible for certifying the individuals in accordance with therequirements of NP-.S410, including employer's specific training, and administeringvision, general, specific, and practical examinations. But the requirements for trainingand experience shall be considered to have been met.
